Just a regular chicklit.

Het meest briljante boek over schrijven dat ik heb gelezen. Ik raad dit boek aan aan iedereen die iets met schrijven doet, of die professioneel reviews schrijft.

Het boek begint duidelijk:

Practice what you preach, dat doet de auteur. het is een dun boekje, maar de informatiedichtheid is uitermate hoog.

Ik ben op dit boek uitgekomen omdat ik een artikel in Schrijven Magazine las hierover, mer de 3 toptips. Alle 3 vond ik het briljante tips, die ik tijdens mijn opleiding en alles wat ik over schrijven heb gelezen nog niet gehoord had. Dat boek, dat moest wel goed zijn.

En ik had gelijk. Ik heb veel dingen opgestoken uit dit werk. Er zijn veel passages gemarkeerd, en enkele zaken heb ik ook in statusupdates hier uitgelicht.

Daarnaast heeft het boek nog een andere toegevoegde waarde die ik niet verwacht had. Ik las dit boek om te leren schrappen op zins- en woordniveau in mijn eigen werk, maar het boek begint met de grotere lijnen voor het schrijven van romans. Omdat er in het boek duidelijk staat wat niet werkt en waarom het niet werkt in boeken, snap ik ineens van wat boeken die ik vond tegenvallen waarom dat was. Het verscherpt dus ook mijn blik op de boeken die ik lees. Daarom raad ik het boek ook aan aan boekenbloggers en andere reviewschrijvende mensen.

Hans Hogenkamp heeft vast een hoop aan te merken op deze toch wel vrij lange recensie ;)

This was a good Yound Adult Dystopian read. I like the fact that you are dropped in the middle of the action and learn about what happens with flashbackes. The story is up and running as soon as you start reading.

I like the fast that when you get to know Cassie, she is a strong independent girl with humor. I also like the detail that she is protective of her stack of tampons.

But than the boys get involved. Cassie start to change, she doesn't depend on herself anymore. I started to miss the Cassie who killed a soldier. This sounds harsh, but in a world like that you need to be harsh to survive. I get that you fall in love, but I would have loved to see the strong independent Cassie from the beginning througout the whole book.

The ending is very open, but there is a second book in this series so no problem there, just continue reading.

I'm very disappointed in how easy Cassie switches from one boy to the other. Makes me think of [b:Pandemonium|9593911|Pandemonium (Delirium, #2)|Lauren Oliver|https://d.gr-assets.com/books/1310371414s/9593911.jpg|14480923] a bit.. Also, i found the ending a bit to happy. Finding Sammy and Ben? A little unrealistic. But on the other hand, it is YA, not Stephan King. I remember seeing the end of the movie The Mist and hating it. But I like it when an writer dares to write an ending that suits the story, like in [b:The Stepford Wives|52350|The Stepford Wives|Ira Levin|https://d.gr-assets.com/books/1403404262s/52350.jpg|1534281] I recently read.

This book touched my heart and I really cannot describe why. Just read it :)

OMG this story is so cute! I adore it!

When I started this book, I didn't liked it for the first 1/3. If this wasn't a readalong, I would have abandoned it. But I continued. When I was halfway through, I stoped disliking this book, and on 3/4 I really got into the story. The end I didn't like that much, it doesn't fit the story properly in my opinion. That makes it an avarage of 3*. 2 feels to low, but I was nudging to that.

Dit is een heel fijn boek om als Nederlander aan je Engelse grammatica te werken. Ze leggen de nadruk op de belangrijkste verschillen en de dingen die het vaakst fout gaan. Ook de uitleg is heel duidelijk, kort en bondig, en met voorbeelden die het goed illustreren.

It was a good story, but a little weird.
