I'm giving this book 4 stars only because of how short it was. I read it in one hour. Of course, it is a novella, so I shouldn't have been surprised, but it just wasn't that great as a short book. If it had been a novel, wuth a lot more detail, I would have loved it.

other than it's length, this book is classic King suspense. Gwendy is given a box with buttons on it, and bad things will happen if she pushes any of them. For years she has to keep and guard the box. The first time she pushes a button, tragedy happens. So it goes every time she pushes the button.

I needed a realistic read. This book was perfect. Tragedy, and the brutal reality that follows is what Starr Carter must experience in this realistic Young Adult novel.
Starr is the only witness in a police shooting that leaves a friend dead. Now she must wait and wonder if the policeman who killed her friend will be charged.
