This was interesting for me to read. I've heard so many things about this book over the past few years and was excited to pick it up finally. I'm not sure what it was that I expected but I didn't get it. Now, let me be clear. It's not that I don't like this book. I really actually did.... the second half at least.
The first of the half is so jarring. Really there's no other word for it. Getting used to narrator that is actually narrating and providing insight and not just telling the story. The amount that it switches back and forth between past and present during the first 100 pages is also uncomfortable for me. Every time I'd get intrigued by where the plot in the present was going we'd be thrown into a flashback.
That said, after the first 150 pages it picked up and got really interesting and enjoyable to read. The plot twist was one I didn't see coming, and was actually believable (unlike some plot twists) and had me on the edge of my seat. Also
All in all I liked Nevernight and will definitely be picking up Godsgrave and most likely Darkdawn as well.
