Oooh such a good debut and intriguing introduction to a new fantasy world!!

4.5 stars, 8.29 on CAWPILE

This was the kind of slower paced plot that you like to sit in. Like a jacuzzi.
I was intrigued the whole time and I know everyone says this first book is much slower and the weaker of the rest, which is crazy because it was quite good!

ON TO THE NEXT ONE!

Thank you to Berkley and NetGalley for an ebook in exchange for an honest review!

At first, I wasn't sure. Summer irritated me in the beginning and while I understood her daddy issues, I thought she was a bit too harsh, however after the first 25%, I warmed up to her much more.

The banter between her and Aiden was great. They had a great back and forth, even when Aiden was being cheesy af. I had to roll my eyes but I wasn't mad about rolling my eyes, if that makes any sense at all.

Speaking of Aiden, he was adorable. Perhaps a bit too perfect but I had a good time. His relationship with his team was fun and the other players seem like they would be interesting to get more books from their perspectives AHEM.

There wasn't really all that much of a plot plot. It was just vibes and a nice slice of romance. I did feel like the book was slightly too long and that the friendships and everything blossomed very quickly. Plus there were times where a scene would end off on a moment that I thought would be explored further only for a time jump to happen, which was jarring at times.

Over all fun and cute!

Thank you to NetGalley and Feiwel & Friends for an ebook in exchange for an honest review!

Okay, I don't read horror. This book was definitely outside of my usual genre but let me tell you, I am glad that I read it!

First of all, the vibes. The atmosphere is so creepy and just.. it feels.. mossy in a way if that makes sense. CG Drews does such a good job of making you FEEL and sense the forest, even in the middle of you living room, and it's a creepy as hell forest too, thick and heavy and rotting.

The writing was very flower-y, almost too flower-y for me, but still enjoyable. The first half seemed to go slowly. Tension was building but there were times when I was just wanting something crazy to happen.

The second half is when this book really grabs you by the throat. It was wild, I couldn't put it down, wondering what the heck was going on, what was in our heads and what was real.
The plot twist!! I was expecting SOMETHING but it wasn't with that particular character!!

And the ending??? WHAT THE??????

Oooh man, unfortunately this didn't make any of the improvements I was hoping to see from book 1. In fact, it was kinda worse?? Book 1 was pretty good. The concept and everything was awesome and I felt some good tension and intrigue even when the plot seemed slow but yeah this... seemed to be so messy? Like it wasn't quite done being edited. Idk, it was ok! Not terrible but not great.
