Since Elin Hilderbrand has retired can we dub KWH as the new queen of the beach read pls? I LOVE her books and think they’re ideal for summer. They have plenty of depth as well but still feel light enough that you’ll want it in your beach bag and this is another fantastic addition to the authors list. What makes a beach read a standout for me is when there are several elements within the book and you get that here for sure. This is about friendships at all stages in life, there’s a mystery, there is romance, there is family drama, there is a gorgeous summer setting and there is lots of gossipy goodness. You get three POVs, which is always fun, something for everyone and you hear from Charlotte who’s husband was just arrested for fraud, her teenaged daughter Iris and Alice, a woman who takes in strays and helps them get back on their feet. I adored their little commune/mommune and the secondary characters that lived there, they were all colorful and entertaining. Overall this was just really fun and an ideal summer read, don’t miss
The comp saying this is for fans of Grey’s made me immediately add this to my TBR and it definitely gave me those vibes, especially the earlier seasons. The tension between Grace and Julian was believable and gave way to some delicious banter, always a must for me in a slow burn romance which this one was. It takes place over the course of two years and it did feel like it took a crazy long time for these two to give into their desires and hookup. Or at least communicate with each other, it took them awhile to open up and once they finally did things were magical and adorable. The narrators were both fabulous and brought the characters to life with their performances and made the listening experience so fun.
This was a bingeable, read it in a couple of sitting thriller that I enjoyed. Definite popcorn thriller with super unlikable characters and lots of twists and turns. I think fans of Kiersten Modglin will like this and the fact that it’s labeled as the first in a series has me intrigued. Especially after the way things ended, kind of wild! Add this to your TBR when you want a beach or poolside juicy and dangerous thriller.
How are we at the end of the King family series already?! Since it’s so connected to the previous Sullivan family series it feels like I’ve been reading about these families and Outtatowner forever and I’m not sure what to do with myself now that it’s over. If you can’t tell I highly recommend both series if you like spicy small town romance with a mystery running throughout and the best characters you’ll adore. Anyway, it’s finally MJ’s book and I’ve been dying to see how her story would play out forever. It was worth the wait, her and Logan were a great match and he helped her grow into such a strong and confident woman. He’s a possessive guy and it works here, especially in the audio version, something about hearing him be protective was too good. CJ Bloom is a trusted fave for me and she made the cutest MJ, I’m pretty sure she narrated one of the very first audiobooks I ever listened to so she’s a comfort listen for me for sure. Must read book and must read series alert, the author can do no wrong for me
I love a single parent romance but when they’re both single parents?! 🫠 And it’s a cowboy romance?! 🥵 I adore this series, it follows a different brother each book and I just knew Sawyer’s story was gonna be amazing. It so was, this man is not only an amazing dad he’s a caretaker in general and always looking out for his loved ones. But what about himself? He’s his own worst critic and after he meets Ava she shows him that he deserves to be a priority too. I absolutely adored these two together, they complimented each other perfectly and the way they leaned on each other was so cute. Their daughters, Ella and Junie became best friends and they could not get any cuter 🥰 As much as this was adorable and made me melt it’s also super spicy and had me blushing too, the author really knows how to write some hot scenes. Read this series it’s sooo good, cannot wait for Duke’s book next
This was slightly different than what I expected, less thriller more light mystery is what it is and I assumed it would read more like a thriller. It’s more character driven than I thought it would be as well, it takes a hard look at Brynn’s experience with post partum depression and that made the whole thing feel pretty heavy. Sort of a weird combo with the mystery feeling lighter and easy to predict and the rest of it feeling so dark, at least for me. The setting of Martha’s Vineyard was well described and makes this an ideal one to read during the summer and I did enjoy some of the authors prose, there was a sharpness that came through a few times, I just wish there was more of it and more complexity with the mystery aspect. If you are newer to mysteries or enjoy lighter style suspense you should try this though!
This was my first read by the author so I had no idea what to expect and good lord was this one fantastic! It was so unique with Hazel and Ramsey needing a divorce of convenience and I loved the dark undertones running through the whole story. Ramsey is a man obsessed with his ex wife and I loved how down bad he was for Haze. Him being morally grey was actually so hot and the way he would do anything for her was everything. Hazel is fierce and sassy and the perfect person to stand up to Ramsey, I loved them together. This is narrated in duet and Aiden Snow with a growly accent was 🫠 It really doesn’t get any better he was a perfect Ramsey. Elena Wolfe portrayed Hazel’s spunky personality perfectly as well so if you’re an audio fan that enjoys small town stories with a dark and dangerous edge this is a must listen!
I love books set in Hollywood and bonus points if they take a look at the dark side of the industry and not only did this one do that, it did it in a very unique and intriguing way. It flips back and forth between present day as Ivy prepares for the TV reunion and the past when she was a budding actress and getting her first break on the set of Hello Juliet. Both timelines were engaging, in the past you’re trying to figure out where it all went wrong and in the present there’s an interesting murder mystery. I think that’s all you should know about the plot but it’s very well executed and the reveals and secrets were pretty damn shocking and surprising. Definitely a solid thriller that I recommend!
This was such a strange one for me, I sat with my thoughts for a few days and I’m still struggling to process my feelings. When I started this I was looking for a beachy read and this definitely fits the bill. It’s very surface level and looks at the glitzy world of summer in the Hamptons in a very trivial and superficial way. The main character, Lola is hard to really root for, she seems immature for her age and her internal monologue sounds like a horny teenaged boy. This one is super spicy, but like I said lots of the sex scenes were super cringey and maybe there was too much emphasis on the sexual relationships in this one. I did end up liking Lola more by the end of the book but it took forever for her to show some growth and character development. I will say I was somehow still oddly invested here but overall this felt very juvenile and immature.
I have really enjoyed the authors books in the past, I love her style of humor and the way she writes and I thought the premise here was adorable. Summer and Wes owning dueling bookstores was so fun and their banter was top tier amazing for me. The forced proximity aspect was so good, it added a ton of tension and drama to their back and forth convos and I was loving it. Summer owns a romance bookstore so the author added some fun plays on different tropes that worked really well. If you like witty romances this was excellent! ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
