I have been waiting for this book for what feels like forever, but at the same time how are we already at the end of this series?! 😭 Being without a Catherine Cowles book to read for the next few months is sad lol, maybe I shouldn’t have flown through her backlist as fast as I did. Anyway, this one was everything I had hoped for and more, I had such high expectations for Lawson’s book and it did not disappoint. This has age gap, forced proximity, single dad and nanny/boss and I swear the author makes me feel like I’m reading these tropes for the first time. SO good. I already loved Lawson and kids from the previous books but his boys really stole my entire heart by the end. So pure and sweet and their developing relationship with Hallie was everything 🥹 Lawson may be my new favorite CC hero, finally finding out about his past and how that has shaped him into the man he is now was heartbreaking but also made so much sense. And then the suspense, are you kidding me?! That angle was so perfect and the tension was so high I about couldn’t handle it in the end. I don’t want to say more because CC got me really good and I was you to be able to experience it yourself but suffice it to say I absolutely loved everything about this bittersweet end to a beloved series.
This was one of those fun mysteries that really kept me guessing right up until the very end. You get two POVs, Andi an FBI agent who is attending events with an old friend of hers and Carrie, the bride to be. I loved Andi as a character and thought she was so interesting and layered, I could easily see her carrying a series because there was so much about her to like. The author used some dark humor throughout which I always like and things were pretty fast paced with me guessing and second guessing my opinion every chapter. Lots of suspects to choose from with plenty of secrets to uncover and when all was revealed I was satisfied.
This was my first book by the author and it definitely won’t be my last because I really liked it! I haven’t read very many motorcycle club romances but I do enjoy the added danger and tension this one had. The stakes were pretty high and the combination of romance and intensity really worked for me. It’s a second chance romance set in a small town with a side of forced proximity so yes please to all of that. Besides a steamy romance and some darkness with the club there was some emotional complexity that I appreciated too. The secondary characters were all really interesting and I’m super excited it’s the first in a series because I need to know more asap!
I rarely read paranormal/fantasy books but after seeing so many friends rave about this one, I had to give it a try. Plus it was also narrated by my favorite, Therese Plummer so that didn’t hurt either. I was a little lost at first trying to figure out how this world worked but I settled in fairly quickly. There was a lot going on, a mystery, a romance and plenty of drama to keep the plot moving forward. The sexy scenes were a little cringey for me, the whole knotting thing was odd and not well explained so it lost me there but overall this was something different for me that I mostly enjoyed. Fans of the author will be pleased.
It’s always a treat for me when I get to read a new book by the author and I’m absolutely loving this series. It has everything I need, it’s set in a beautiful locale, there’s always some excellent suspense and the characters are the kind that I always get attached to on an emotional level. In the last book I felt like the suspense was heightened and in this installment it kind of snuck up on me in the best way. I was lulled into a sense of false security and when the action hit I was like ok we’re doing this now haha. Theo and Sarah were total opposites but they complimented each other perfectly. Their chemistry was tense and their shift from friends to more was so good! There was an emotional component and connection between them that felt deeply romantic and I just adored them together. You have to read this series if you like steamy romance, suspense, and characters you’ll be obsessed with.
I’ve heard many great things about this author and her books and after reading this, I can totally see why. Pretty sure this was my first foster care romance and dang was this angle appealing to me. It was such a tender romance, in fact I felt like all the tough subjects were handled with an extreme amount of care by the author, there was a sensitive there that I appreciated. Everything felt genuine and messy and all the characters were flawed and real and I always adore that. The romance almost seemed like the least important part for me, I was just so invested in the family Chloe and Warren were creating. I found it to be heartwarming, soft and really sweet in the end.
