Old friends reconnecting is really becoming one of the most entertaining tropes in a thriller and I blame it on @tbretc 😉 There’s something so interesting to me about a group of people with a history that had a falling out and are now back together again. There’s always plenty of secrets too which doesn’t hurt and there was that here as well, I wish the secrets would’ve been a little juicier but they were still fun enough in the end. The setting was also great and had locked room vibes, there’s always something claustrophobic there and the added element of possible wildlife being a threat was great too. ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

Tara Sivec is one of my absolute favorite romance authors and it was SO good to be back in Summersweet Island! If you haven’t read this series it’s a must, I’ve adored every single book and will keep reading more as long as the author keeps writing them.

This one follows Laura, who has featured in most of the books and I loved that she was older than what you usually see in most romances. She’s at such a freeing place in her life and she has no more fucks to give and her relationship with Dean was not only sexy and sweet, it was refreshing. This was also super funny, I actually laugh out loud every time I read one of these books and a couple scenes had me damn near cry laughing. And if you’re a fan of this series you get plenty of time with past favorites and they’re every bit as ridiculous and hilarious as ever. Overall this was the best, I couldn’t get enough and highly recommend it!

This was a true enemies to lovers rom com with a side of fake dating, two of my favorite tropes! Thom and Clay absolutely hate each other in the beginning and there was no quick switch from hate to love, it was a slow shift that seemed pretty realistic. I wasn’t sure if I wanted to read a book about politics and the politicians themselves but that part actually didn’t bother me too much. I did have a hard time with Thom, he very unlikable and just an ass but he did get better for me as the book went on. I liked Clay more, he wasn’t as cutthroat as Thom and by the end I was rooting for the two of them to take the fake dating to a real place. This one has some steam and good sarcasm too, overall an enjoyable listen that kept me amused. ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

Ok this one sucked me in immediately and pretty much never let me go until the end, I love when that happens! This flashes back and forth between husband and wife, Natalie and Michael’s perspectives, Michael’s in the present day as he’s searching for his wife and children and Natalie both in present and then before she disappeared. These two kept me on my toes, I wasn’t sure who to trust, which version of events was actually true? I kept going back and forth the whole time and I really liked how things ended up. I actually found the twists to be pretty plausible, which was refreshing and between that and the gripping storyline I had a lot of fun with this one. ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️💫

Have you ever read a memoir and felt like a friend is talking directly to you? Maybe articulating thoughts you’ve had yourself but could never quite express them? That’s the feeling I had when I was listening to this one. There was so much that I found relatable here, so many themes that were applicable to my own life but especially anxiety and motherhood and the author captured my fears so well. This is a collection of essays but there always felt like there was a common thread linking everything together making it feel really cohesive. Overall this was both entertaining and insightful for me ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

Ahhh this one was SO charming and just utterly perfect! One of my new favorite tropes is sunshine and grump so Simone’s crabbiness next to Ray’s upbeat mood coupled with SO MUCH FOOD made for a delicious read for me. This one is a super slow burn, like really slow but I honestly didn’t mind for once. I think because there was so much going on for the characters personally that I was so emotionally invested anyway I didn’t care about waiting for the romance aspect to develop. Another thing I’ve been loving in my books lately is found family and that plays a huge role here making the secondary characters just as lovable as the main ones. Overall I can’t say enough good things about this one and highly recommend it if you like any of the above! ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

Generally I enjoy a book that is quirky but I think this one may have been a little too quirky for me. It was silly and sure, fun at times but overall it just felt too ridiculous for me to fully enjoy. I’m all for suspending some disbelief but this one was way over the top and just required me to overlook too much in the end. But if you enjoy slapstick comedy and some outrageous storytelling you may enjoy this one more than I did

I loved the premise of this one, check this out 👇🏻

Synopsis: A family with a secret.

A past about to catch up with them.

Hanna has barely spoken to her family since the tragedy that rocked their lives fourteen years ago. The tragedy for which they held Hanna responsible.

Then she sees her family home listed as the scene of a horrific crime. Number of victims: three. Date of crime: today. Frantic, Hanna tries to contact her family, only to find they have disappeared.

To find them, Hanna will have to confront what happened all those years ago.

And the person determined to make her pay for it . . .

I mean family secrets are nothing new but I liked the whole idea of seeing a posting online saying the family were victims of a crime with the date being the present day. The whole not knowing what had happened to them, only knowing they were indeed at the very least missing was intriguing for sure and then the whole thing had a complexity that just worked for me. I wouldn’t say this was exactly fast paced but it also wasn’t a slow burn either, I guess it was just steady throughout which is honestly great because it kept me interested. There were lots of suspects to chose from and I kept changing my guesses but ultimately I did guess right. It was actually fine by me because I was still entertained, overall this was just an easy and fun thriller read for me that did have a unique feel to it. ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

Although I was very familiar with Molly Shannon’s career and have loved her for years I really knew nothing about her childhood and I was blown away by her candidness surrounding the tragedies she faced as a young child. Of course this is also super funny and engaging, just as you would expect but I found it surprisingly insightful as well. She shares some of the backstory and inspiration behind some of the characters she created (SUPERSTAR) and there were some fun anecdotes about the celebrities she worked with over the years. I listened to this and it’s also read by her which was great, she has such a way of making you feel like you’re listening to a friend tell you entertaining and witty stories. ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
