I am such a huge fan of this series so naturally I have been dying to read London’s story and it was SO good y’all! I love the authors brand of writing smart and sexy romance and the friendship between London, Taylor and Samiah is everything. All three are such badasses and London may be the most badass of all. She’s a pediatric surgeon so she’s clearly intelligent and she’s also fierce about doing what’s best for her patients and coworkers. I got some Greys vibes whenever she was at work which is always a treat. I loved that her and Drew had a shared history and their chemistry was off the charts. Read this if you like enemies to lovers, some forced proximity, witty banter and some spice
The complex plot of this one drew me in and the multiple points of view and timelines made me stay.
From the synopsis: The internationally bestselling author of Do Not Disturb and Just Like the Other Girls delivers a heart-pounding psychological thriller about a couple who inherit what seems to be their dream home, until they make a horrifying discovery--and the danger begins.
You hear from Saffron, Lorna and Rose who are three generations of family members and Saffy and Lorna are trying to figure out what happened thirty years ago. Rose has Alzheimer’s so getting information from her is tricky at best but I enjoyed trying to solve the mystery alongside the characters. I’m always a sucker for a cold case and the time jumps and switches between POVs were seamless here. It’s a bit of a slow burn but I’ve read the author before and knew it would pick up in the end and it did with plenty of surprising twists and turns. I listened to this one and the narration was great, I will always listen to a British narrator if given the chance. Overall this was a solid thriller that entertained me!
Allow me to introduce you to one of my favorite romance reads of the year! I had heard nothing but good things about this so I was excited to read it but I had no idea that I would end up obsessed in this way.
If I could imagine the perfect romantic story I’m pretty sure it would be this book. Exactly this book. It had everything I wanted and it also had everything I never knew I wanted. This one is steamy y’all, I’m talking scorching hot 🥵 Gigi and Alec may have the best chemistry I’ve ever read about and I was in a puddle every single time they had a sexy scene 🫠 It wasn’t just all sex though, their emotional connection was so tender and intimate I almost felt bad for witnessing it. There’s also a dash of mystery surrounding the story Gigi is writing that added a suspenseful edge and I always enjoy a side of drama with my romance. I’ll stop rambling but if you’re a romance reader this is an absolute must.
I am a huge fan of the author and I always appreciate that she comes up with exciting premises with each book and this being set during the making of a movie was super interesting for me. There was so much about this one that I loved. It had a creepy, isolated atmosphere that added to the tension of the story in such a bold and dramatic way. The format was also great, think book inception with a movie being filmed with a book as a major plot point and also excerpts from the script as well. Definitely a lot going on but I wasn’t put off or confused by it, in fact I really enjoyed the parallels between the script and what was happening with Adele. I was super into this one until the very end, I thought it was underwhelming and slightly mediocre BUT I will still say I recommend it. I think I have super high expectations for the author and just expected to be blown away, but overall this was still an intense and entertaining read.
