Is anyone going to even believe me when I say this was the authors best book yet? Because I’ve said that basically every single time I review one of her books. I swear it’s true though, she gets better with each book somehow. Maybe it’s because Jacob is her best hero yet. This man is so pure and vulnerable, imagine the softest, squishiest person on the planet and that’s him 🫠 But Briana is amazing in her own right and when I found out she was getting her own book after meeting her in POYW I was thrilled. Getting to know her more was a treat, she cracks me up and checking in with Alexis and Daniel was fun too. This book was full of Easter eggs per usual so longtime fans will be delighted when they spot them. It always feels like such a cute reward when I notice one and there’s some real gems here. This one isn’t all fun, there is a lot of emotional heaviness and if this isn’t your first Abby book you get it. IYKYK Her characters path to getting a HEA is never easy, they really have to work for it but man is it worth it in the end. For them and the reader because my overall feeling when I finished this was an overwhelming feeling of satisfaction. The anxiety and chronic health rep was 🤌🏻💋too, parts of this made me feel seen in such a powerful way. Read this if you like hilarious banter, emotional depth, authentic characters and a hero and heroine who treat each other with so much care.

This is part of the email I got when the publisher first brought to my attention.

You’re invited to dive into a mind-bending mystery knowing as little as possible about what you’re about to experience.

Besties, I have been thinking so hard about how I would present this book to you that my head hurts. You see, it’s very special. It’s twisty, turny, and holds all of the beautiful, mysterious things most of us love about reading. But I can’t tell you much else because…everything is a spoiler.”

So basically that’s all I’m sharing with you all because she was right and anything I say is a spoiler. Don’t even read the synopsis or the author blurbs just go into this as blind as possible. All I can really say is this was super unique, it read very fast for me and I highly recommend having someone to discuss with as you read and especially after you finish. I read this with @angelareadsbooks and it was so great to have someone to talk to. If you like thought provoking books with a ton of depth try this! And if you need to chat once you finish I’m you’re girl.

This one had me in the beginning and then lost me along the way. Most times I love an ensemble cast and shifting viewpoints but here I think a couple of them were unnecessary and didn’t really add any value. The twists may be surprising to someone who doesn’t read many thrillers but it seemed so obvious to me that I wasn’t surprised at all. It’s also set in the early days of the pandemic and I didn’t love being back in that time period. Not really the book for me, but it was a fast read and the audio version was well produced and probably what kept me reading while I was cleaning. I’ve also enjoyed the authors books in the past and will definitely give her a other try in the future.

Just gonna get this out there right away, I actually liked this more than The Love Hypothesis. I liked that one, it was good but I read it a little late and the hype got me. Like always. But this one was an easy five stars for me and I felt that way pretty early on even. Sometimes you just know and Bee won me over fast. It was instalove for me. She’s the most lovable nerd and while she’s way smarter than I’ll ever be and way into so many things that don’t appeal to me I still found myself being able to easily relate to her. She’s just so lovable and her quirkiness was super endearing. Levi was a doll and adorably awkward, so of course they were super cute together. The steam snuck up on me here, a couple sentences were downright nasty but I like some filth sprinkled in occasionally. One of the best parts of this for me was a side character, Rocio who is Bee’s coworker. She was hilarious and I loved her super dry wit. Overall I think fans will be pleased with this one, and I can’t wait for book three.

If there’s one type of book I’ll always read, no matter the genre it’s a story about sisters. Bonus points for a dark thriller about sisters so I knew this was a must for me the minute I read the synopsis. This is is told from both sisters viewpoints, Lilian in the present day and Rosie through journal entries from the past so you’re slowly fed the details on their relationship and everything that led up to their falling out and beyond. While the secrets are slowly revealed I still found the pacing to be pretty fast and I was definitely never bored. Not knowing if either sister was even reliable kept things exciting and a couple of twists in the end surprised me. Overall a solid debut and I look forward to reading more from the author.

There are not many authors who are able to release ten plus books per year but somehow KMod does this and she makes it look easy. Not only is she releasing a ton of books each year, she’s also still maintaining a really high quality with her books AND she somehow manages to come up with really original ideas for her books. I swear the concepts she writes about are always interesting and this was no exception. Actually, I even found it to have a slightly different feel to her other books and I mean that in a good way. This was emotionally charged and while it still felt very much like a suspenseful story, it didn’t have the usual twists and turns throughout. But of course there was a shocking turn in the end, it is KMod after all, I just wanted to point out that this one felt unique compared to some of her other books. Colbie was a character you can’t help rooting for, she’s been through so much and while she knows finding answers may help her with closure, she also knows it’ll be painful. I’m gonna stop with details there but if you like thrillers with an emotional component that are still very fast paced, give this one a try!

I’ve seen this book floating around for years so when I saw Berkley was rereleasing it, I figured it was the perfect time to finally read it. I’ve heard a lot of hype surrounding both this book and the entire series and while I can sorta see where people are coming from, I also kind of don’t get it either. There were things I liked, for sure. It was just as addictive as everyone said and it was a whole lot like watching a train wreck but it gave me the same type of feelings I would have if I was watching an actual train wreck. It was hard to watch two such self destructive characters make awful decisions over and over again and it didn’t help that they were both very unlikable. Their relationship is the very definition of toxic and while I don’t usually mind that, I also don’t need a whole book focusing on it either. There was something entertaining here and I liked the authors style, but overall I’m not sure if there was enough here for me to like. Especially unsure if I will continue this series.

If you went to high school in the 90s this one is a must! This one unlocked countless core memories for me and made me super nostalgic. It follows four friends who are about to attend their 25th HS reunion. Tara, Priya, Suki and Melissa all realize that everything they planned on happening after graduation didn’t exactly work out for them and they all begin to reevaluate their lives. I found myself being able to relate to each woman at various points throughout the book. It probably helped that we’re the same age and the references from the past made me both laugh and cringe a little. While the authors books are always a guaranteed fun read she infuses them with insight too so this isn’t all lightness, definitely full of substance too. I really enjoyed this one and think my fellow elderly millennials just might too

I’ve really enjoyed this authors books in the past, she writes in a really addictive way that always makes me want to read her books in one sitting and basically that’s all I’m looking for in a thriller lately. This one has that same feel and I was into it from the start. At one point things get flipped upside down and I think this particular choice will be divisive. It mostly worked for me, I don’t mind if things get a little unhinged and that’s definitely the case here. I always appreciate the unexpected and I definitely didn’t see things coming ahead of time here. It does require you to just go along for the ride and not ask too many questions so just a heads up there but if you’re looking for a page turner with some bananas surprises this one was fun

If you like true crime and romance novels (and really, who doesn’t?) this one is a must! Do you think every man you ever met is a potential serial killer? If so, you’re gonna love Phoebe. She’s neurotic (again, who isn’t in 2022) and smart and her brand of wit is right up my alley. Sam was the sweetest most awkwardly adorable hero and together they made such a cute pair. Their relationship was gentle, tender and felt so genuine. They took care with each other in a way that felt so pure. Since Phoebe’s father recently passed away there’s a grief element throughout the story and she’s also trying to rekindle a friendship with someone she lost touch with years ago. Then there’s her brother and his girlfriend who were such fantastic secondary characters I kinda want to read a whole ass book about those two. These extra elements added additional depth to this cute romance, I adored it and can’t wait to see what the author has in store next.
