Mostly internal rather than external conflict, but it kept moving in interesting directions which is all you can really ask for. Definitely want to read the next one in the series.

It felt like all of Alexa's personality was thrown away once
Spoilerthe guys found out her secret and fell in love with her - or, well, she found out about it
. Nope.

A little hard to follow sometimes, but the development was intriguing and the ending was pretty solid. Indubitably what I consider "mind-expanding" fiction.

Inspirational and realistic struggle-to-recovery/success story. Insightful and impactful, with purposeful developments that kept it interesting.

Some interesting developments, and a great balance of introspection/action/intrigue/romance that fits the teen audience well, even if it's not exactly to my taste.

Ominous and somewhat suspenseful, though it wasn't really intense enough to be truly chilling. Decently paced and flowing, but not exactly outstanding.

Really nothing special; basically Pretty Little Liars (my impression of it, anyway; I'm far from a PLL fan). Don't know why I bothered finishing this book; the mystery dragged out way too long.

3.5 stars.

Fairly typical white cishet male protagonist, but the fact that he was (realistically!) battling addiction made it stand out. Decent plot, realistic storyline.

Very Ally Carter-esque (compare to Embassy Row specifically); action-packed with an edge of romance while preserving a strong, independent heroine. Logical high stakes that didn't make me want to roll my eyes; never a dull moment.
