Her relationship with Darrel was sweet later on. I appreciated Maria's character more than any other, even Lucas. The writing wasn't great, though, and the twist too disconnected to constitute a mystery.
2.5 stars.
"He's evil, and I know it; if loving him makes me wicked - then that's bad, but I love him so whatever." Seriously? It's hard to be into a relationship when it's so obviously unhealthy. Transparent plotlines, overly dramatic.

I shuddered each time he described the examination of bodies; it was really excessively graphic. The unusual similes and metaphors were interesting in a good way, but the plot arc (not the actual events, but the development) was a bit flat.
Frankie Sky is so cute! That naivete and sense of invincibility...but I'm having trouble believing that a 4 year old talks like that. The relationship drama was unnecessary, I think - an overused aspect of YA fiction.
His sense of humor is a lot like mine - "Yeah, it wasn't that funny even in my head." Plus, also like me, he's fundamentally lazy but passionate about certain things.
Caro was kind of mean to Hannah, sure, but either I oversympathize with her or everyone - including Caro herself - blew it way out of proportion. Dang, Pawel was cute - and Rube Goldberg machines? Wonderfully different.
I knew it - I saw the love triangle coming from the start. (Plus, with all it had in common with Twilight...) I figured , though it dragged long enough that I was starting to doubt it. And seriously, Remy had a lot of really stupid moments.

Ew. Completely contradictory messages: "It's your choice/responsibility"; "God loves you no matter what"; "ABORTION IS WRONG." The only redeeming point was Audrey's character - I want a friend like her.
Convoluted mystery - I liked it! Nicely subtle clues for some aspects - not illogical/random and not blatantly obvious. No major red herrings, yay! My only (minor) complaint is the lack of real romantic development.
I try not to write off protagonists, but I think Azure is best described as a Mary Sue: self-justified, hasty, opinionated; it actually took me three pages to even figure out she was a girl! Excessive drama, weird names, stupid love whatever-gon.
