This is my favourite book in the series. As I wrote in my HP1 review, while re-reading the series, I've really come to love and appreciate the side characters (except Snape and Malfoy - I'm trying) and although I LOVED Lupin the first time I read the book, I got to appreciate how flawed he is, and how he has grown, and will continue to do so. I was, however, completely blind-sided my love for Minerva McGonagall. I guess I always thought her strict and unreasonable, but holy crap is she BRILLIANT.

Just a brilliant book, with amazing twists and turns (hehe).

Maybe this is the sign that classic sci-fi/horror isn't for me. I wasn't aware that this edition also contained another story, so the thing is just 75 pages long (!). The language itself wasn't as challenging as with other classics.

This honestly felt too short to properly review, the last chapter (maybe not all the reveals) would've been a great introduction to a longer murder-mystery. All in all, this was fine, I just expected more

I was directed to Rowling's essay explaining her transphobic tweets, which I've been completely in the fog about, as I haven't followed Rowling's social media or read any of her published work since DH (I'm generally not good at following discourses and looking up the writers whose works I consume). I found her comments ignorant and lacking in the clear understanding of the right the trans-community and their allies are fighting for. I do not stand for selective feministic ideas. I decided to re-read the hp series because I've dealing with my own challenges regarding my mental health, and I was recommended to consume "familiar and feel-good content" by a therapist. HP was always that for me, and I've been living in the bubble of that excuse for so long). My comfort isn't worth the hate and lack of humanity shown to the trans-community on a daily basis. I've made my donations to three organizations, and I wanted to share them here, as I've seen other people do in the review of other HP books.

This book feels very current now, with the commentaries on the press and selective reporting, as well as riots due to unaddressed race relations. I never realized this as this is the first time I'm reading the series in English. I find it difficult with this one to accept that "it's just a fantasy novel. The imagery seems well-intentioned what with Hermione advocating with S.P.E.W. and everything, but it unfortunately falls short. There are so many great moments in this book and I love it for those moments, but I think it's important to be aware of the many flaws that exists in it as well.
