Loved the art. Loved the story. Not quite sure I understood the fantastical parts of it, but I really liked it :D

Though a bit statistic-heavy at times (as expected from the title), it is incredibly eye-opening and informative on how women are affected in different aspects of society. I'd recommend taking your time with the book, as it is a lot of information to take in, and there are also several segways within each chapter/topic. As a future nurse, the chapters on healthcare are particularly infuriating.

The edition I have is barely 89 pages, but I would recommend taking your time reading through this. It evokes so many emotions and thoughts, I found myself stopping in order to read about events or people mentioned. The most frustrating part is of course how, in many ways, it does not feel like there have been many changes to the topics that Baldwin discusses

So beautiful. I tend to find it difficult to pace myself with graphic novels, but even though there were no words, I stayed captivated by just the beautiful illustrations. My favourite pages were the ones with all the smaller squares

Fun as always, but I felt that it wrapped up a bit too quick for my taste.
But the tease at the end though, new series coming??

It never feels right to give a rating to a non-fiction book like this. There's so many aspects to this book, both the harrowing historical aspects, but also the relationship between the author and his father. I feel privileged to have read this story

I think the synopsis of the book is a bit misleading, but it was still an almost perfect read. Everything was so vivid and the atmosphere of Manderlay was almost tangible. I wished there had been more character development for the main character. A bit slow at times, but when it picked up, I couldn't put the book down.

Mentions of and references to characters doing blackface. And dressing up as other ethnicities for a costume ball
