It was extremely short, with not much plot. But it was sweet and nice. I liked the characters, the romance, and the worldbuilding was in my opinion (for such a short text) pretty good.
Plus the cover is absolutely gorgeous!
But I still think it would be a great book if the author decided to write a full, more complex version of this story. It has great potential.

There's something about queer books set in the countries of the Eastern Block, past and present, that makes them both easier and harder to read. It felt much more personal than I thought, maybe because of the places that were so familiar to the ones around me. At one hand, there was something nice about reading about places that were so familiar with the ones around me, the shared history of our countries. On the other, it hurts to read about it, as I know how terribly people still treat anyone who is non-cishet.

First of all, I loved Ludwik. My heart ached for him all through the story and I shed many tears. The ending was painful to read, to be honest, I almost couldn't finish it. I knew they wouldn't end up together, but why it still hurt? Like? Why? But if felt in right, somehow, and at least he didn't die. That would be too much to handle (as I'm still recovering from some bury your gays endings.)

I hope to read more from Tomasz Jedrowski in the future.
