This story broke my heart.
How something like this could happen and go untold for so long is unthinkable.
While the characters and the majority of the story may be complete fiction, the last 100 pages contain a true story about how 10,000 people were packed onto a ship during the evacuation of East Prussia; how that ship, mostly civilians and 5,000 children, was torpedoed by the Russians and sunk; how more than 9,000 people perished during the sinking. It is the largest maritime catastrophe in modern history and people don't know about it.
How is that even possible?
If you've read to the end of this I highly recommend going a picking up a copy of this book. It was educational, an easy read, and absolutely heartbreaking. But it makes you feel something. You feel for the characters, their losses, their pain, their triumphs. You feel for what happened. You feel more informed for knowing this happened and you feel better knowing you can spread this piece of untold history to others.

Loved this book!
I love that you got to see another side of Private International, the London side this time, and it was so cool that this took place during the 2012 London Olympics!
It was fast paced, lots of action, and the characters were great! I love Peter Knights character and I cannot wait to read another Private book that takes place in London!

Best book in the Michael Bennett series by far. Loved the plot line, the characters were fantastic as always, just loved everything about it!
This book just didn't wow me like it did for everyone else. Maybe there was just too much hype around it for me and I set the bar too high.
I did think it was a good book though! I enjoyed the story, I really liked the characters, I LOVED that there was no love interest at all between our two main characters.
I definitely plan on reading the second book in the series.

Wow. Just wow.
Agatha Christie is a genius!! I never would have guessed whodunnit! It was such a brilliantly woven story that keeps you guessing until the very end.
I absolutely loved it and now I'm going to have to head out in search of another of her books to read!

This book was even better the second time around! I love how it was broken up so that you spend more time with less characters. It really allowed you time to get inside their heads, figure out what they were trying to do vs what was actually going to happen. And the character development in this book is amazing! So many characters grow right before your eyes and it's amazing to see!
Oh my goodness the feels.
This book was amazing. It kinda reminded me of something John Green would write... Or All the Bright Places.
It will make you laugh, make you cry, make you take a step back and really think about life. It teaches you about life, about yourself, and about the things people go through. It gives you hope and breaks your heart and takes things to a whole new level.
I was absolutely blown away by this book.

Not gonna lie, it was a rocky start. The beginning was such an info dump and I was confused and frustrated and I considered picking something else up. But someone told me to get through the first 100 pages or so and it would pick up and damn they were right.
This book was so amazing after that! It had a Hunger Games vibe but it ended up being so much more than that! I loved the idea of them being in school and being at war with each other. And I love Darrow as a main character! He was so fantastic! But the war .... I love how it took up most of the book! I really thought it was only going to last a short amount of time but it was amazing!!
They should make this into a (accurate) movie because I could see it being amazing!!

Oh. My. God.
I absolutely LOVED this book!! It had everything you could want in a young adult book. It made me laugh, made me cry (like actually I cried), made me think about what I was doing with my life.
Everything about this book was amazing. I especially loved the main character, Lydia most of all! She is someone who people can relate with, someone you can see yourself being friends with. Dill was such a sympathetic character and Travis was such a lovable character.
I highly recommend picking this one up!

Thomas Edison's last words were: " It's very beautiful over there." I don't know where there is, but I believe it's somewhere, and I hope it's beautiful.
I have read this book at least 4 times now and I will love it every time. There is something so beautiful and something so heartbreaking about this book that makes it amazing.
It is my all time favorite standalone book and it is, in my opinion, the best book John Green has written. The language and the message is so beautiful. The characters are brilliantly written and their story is something incredible.
