Absolutely loved this duology!
Lara is such a badass main character, everything about her is fierce and loyal and strong. She is so exciting to read about and is one of the better female heroines out there!
I loved reading about Aren’s struggles in this book because it made it feel more real. Had he gone one way or the other and didn’t struggle it would have been hard to accept but I loved it all. His struggles with Lara and with doing what was right for Ithicana even if he might not agree with it makes him such a good king.

Highly recommend reading this one if you enjoy fantasy! Cannot wait for the second duology in this series!

I always have to remind myself that these books are paranormal thrillers because they start off so normal and then they get absolutely wild right around the halfway point. This one was no different
This wasn’t my favorite of her books but it was still good and there were definitely a few points where I couldn’t put it down. I loved that it was set in the 90s because some thrillers are just better because the characters don’t have all the information at their fingertips. I love the concept of this one too because there’s lots of lonely roads like this all over the world and it makes it that little bit more spooky!
Solid read, I’ll definitely keep reading her books in the future!

What an incredible ending to an incredible series!
I loved every minute of it and I’m so so glad we got to learn more about Harristan as a character this book! It really made everything happening mean so much more throughout the book.
Words cannot fully describe how much I loved this series as a whole. It was amazing from start to finish and there was never a point where I strayed from this belief.
This is, quite possibly, the best start to finish trilogy I’ve ever read. So many have a tendency to fall flat at the end but not this one. I thought all of it was so well written and so well done and I cannot wait to read more by Brigid Kemmerer!

Another fantastic fantasy read by Brigid Kemmerer!
I loved how she dove head first into this new world and you got to know it as the story went along instead of spending the whole first quarter of the book explaining her new world. Loved the characters in this one and loved the story she told!
Really looking forward to reading book 2!

2024 update:
I loved this book just as much the second time reading it. Brigid Kemmerer really has a way with words, she sucks you right into her stories and takes you on a wild, magical ride every time.
Cannot wait for my reread of book 2!

This might be the most original thriller I’ve read in a while and I loved every minute of it!
What I thought was going to be another run of the mill mystery/thriller turned into more of a spy thriller that had me flying through it to find out what was going to happen next!

Evie Porter lives a pretty simple life. Good job, great boyfriend, living in a small town… except she isn’t Evie Porter and nothing about her life is real. Ryan is just another mark and Evie Porter is just another alias but the game might be evolving in a way Evie didn’t see coming.

I can’t even think of a good way to summarize what I just read like I usually do because to go into any sort of detail might give this one away and it’s too good to do that!

I highly recommend this one if you enjoy thrillers!

I’m really glad this book went back more to the search for Glendower even if it wasn’t the main focus of the book.
I think the further we get into the series the more fantasy it becomes and I’m still really enjoying it but I liked the first one the most because it was more magical realism than anything I think.
I’m super curious to see how the story plays out in the final book though!

Before I started this one I had seen someone describe it as a slow burn mystery and I think that is the perfect description for this one.
It definitely doesn’t have the flare that Stacy Willingham’s first two books did but the ending came out of nowhere for this one! I thought I had put the pieces together but I really did not see the full ending happening at all!
While this one definitely moves slower than her others I still really enjoyed trying to figure out where the whole story was going!
Looking forward to seeing what she comes up with next!
