I found this confusing (four different points and view and two different timelines - one going forward and one going mostly backward but also occasionally forward), not particularly enjoyable (all the characters were pretty unpleasant), and not very interesting.

Terrible cover. If I wasn't a Ruth Ware fan already I would pass this by - it looks so dull. That house is supposed to be Victorian gothic but it could be any old boring house.
I was a little disappointed by the ending. I wanted to know more. It seemed to finish a bit abruptly for me. But having said that it was still really good, especially the earlier bits where the mystery and suspense is building.

I didn't think I was going to like this one much, as CeCe hadn't been my favourite sister, but I really loved it`, especially once it got to Australia. Possibly my favourite historical story so far too :)
