This was a very similar format to some of her other older trilogies (six strangers coming together as three couples to battle evil) and, to be honest, it wasn't as good as I hoped. There wasn't a lot of chemistry and the book felt a bit rushed.

It was a lot better than the last new Nora Roberts trilogy I read though, and I will read the rest in the series, but I feel that a lot of the magic has gone from her books in the last few years.

I absolutely loved the Mistborn trilogy, but while I enjoyed this it didn't grab me in quite the same way.

The characters are wonderful and I loved the western/magic/steampunk vibe, but it took me a while to get into it. Maybe the first Mistborn books were just too good! I was hoping for more of that atmosphere and this was just a little short for me.

Still well worth reading though and I'll definitely carry on with the rest.
