Much as I love Sherrilyn Kenyon, this really wasn't good. It read like it had been written (and edited) in a big hurry. A real let-down after Acheron, but those following the series should read it as there are some surprising developments in one of the main characters.
I'd actually give this 3.5 stars as it was an enjoyable read. Whether or not you think that Jane Austen might be going round investigating crimes (I personally doubt it, but it's a fun idea), the mystery side of the story was well done and it was a good plot. I don't think Stephanie has got Jane's 'voice' at all (these are supposed to be her journals), but that is a big ask. In my opinion, there wasn't enough wit or cleverness in the writing for it to be Jane. But there were some clever references to the books - obviously this is supposed to be where Jane got some of her inspiration for characters and speeches - and I will read others in the series. Take them as they are - fun mystery stories but not Jane Austen!
