Summary:
I liked the concept of the book. I like the meaning behind the book. I just didn’t care for how on the nose it was. Boomers vs. millennials/Gen Z is an interesting thing to explore if done well. It just wasn’t done well here.

I also didn’t feel like the characters were particularly gripping. I was rooting for Brandon (because he came across as nice) and Ava (queer Ava, not beautiful Ava) but that’s it - and even then, I can say they aren’t fleshed out. With 14 plus characters and a story under 275 pages, you’re just going to get shallow characters who live in their stereotypes (tragic artist, bubble-headed influencer, etc). Main character Mackenzie was sympathetic but not interesting.

The book is for adults but feels like an YA novel.

Interesting idea but the writing isn’t drawing me in for some reason.

The Death of Mrs. Westaway

I really tried but the heroine is too annoying. Most of the text is her worrying and worrying and worrying…

The predicament that she is in is scary but…it’s too much. I also feel like this whole thing could be resolved in like one conversation.
