nerdinthelibrary's Reviews (926)

Are you looking to have a good, smutty time while reading but don't have the time to read a full novel? Well then do I have the anthology comic for you. This book has over 20 bite-sized erotic comics, all of which I really enjoyed. These comics are full of diversity in terms of gender, race, sexuality, body-type, species, kinks, etc. I decided to rate it a 4 because more than half of the comics I would individually rate that way. That said, there genuinely wasn't a single comic in this entire anthology I didn't enjoy.

1) Smut Peddler: 2012 Edition ★★★★

I honestly don't really have any overall thoughts that I didn't have with the first edition. This remains a fantastic collection of sexy comics that are all thoroughly enjoyable. Something I didn't mention the first time around is how much I appreciate how woman-lead these are, and you can definitely tell while reading judging just by how many women get eaten out.

Anyway, quick thoughts on each comic (favourites are in bold):

content warnings: this review pointed out the fact that there's a literal n*zi in this graphic novel
representation: biracial sapphic main character, black side character, sapphic side character

This was really adorable!! It's Nancy Drew, if Nancy Drew were a wlwoc in the 1950s/60s. Right off the bat, I love when people write stories and are like "racism?? homophobia?? in one of the most aesthetically pleasing eras of the 20th century?? not in my story", and that's exactly what this is (if you like this you should read the webcomic rock and riot, just sayin)

From the art style, to the characters, to the (possible) romance, to the mystery, everything about this was just super cute. This was going to be a five star for me but then I read the review which I've linked in the content warnings and that didn't make me dislike this necessarily, but it did give me a more negative perspective on it.

I would recommend reading that review before making a decision on whether or not you want to read this, but I would highly recommend nonetheless.

Buzzword readathon #8

Reading this made me 10 times madder that the movies seem physically incapable of doing Storm right because she's such an interesting character!! God, she deserves better.

Anyway, this comic is pretty close to perfect, at least so far as comics go. As I said, Ororo as a character is amazing and this entire volume is solely a character piece on her. Each issue has it's own individual plot that loosely tie together and all of them focus on whatever Ororo's going through, whether it's something to do with her powers or losing a loved one.

Being fairly ignorant on X-Men comics in general there's a lot in this that I didn't get immediately, such as various characters' relationships, but it gives you enough context clues that you can pick it up almost immediately. It took only a few pages for me to absolutely fall in love with Ororo and Logan's relationship so, if you've read it, you can imagine how much of an emotional roller coaster this reading experience was.

This also contains some of the best art in superhero comics I've seen in a while, and as someone who is usually very unimpressed with superhero comic art it takes a lot for me to even like it, let alone for me to love it.

Not only do I think that anyone who likes X-Men comics should read this, I also think that every person currently working at Marvel Studios also needs to read this so they don't fuck Storm up (yet again).

Oh my god, this was so fun and I wish this was going to be an ongoing series.

It's honestly pretty surprising there haven't been any Animorphs graphic novels before this because the story works perfectly in the format. I know that they're probably not going to make very many of these because they aren't going to sell that well but I'm going to read as many as I can.
