2025 reread: i've been underrating kade and sumi's friendship so much for all these years, and emily is maybe in my top three wayward children characters??

thought this was going to be the annoying filler volume with an unnecessary love triangle, but then that plot lasted like three chapters and the rest was them having sex and the third wheel realising he's in love with both of them. iconic. 

this took me about six months to read because i kept putting it down for extended periods of time. basically with every part that ended, i would need a break. every other page makes me feel so damn much. i think the mirror season remains my favourite mclemore, but this is a very close second. 

i forget how much fun reading about a main character who is just so insufferable and delusional can be!! embarrassingly this is my first r.f. kuang book, but rest assured it will not be the last.
