i will never get over campfire of dreams

hmmm i really debated what my rating for this should be.  quick lil pro-con list.

pros:
- the relationship development felt realistic in a way i appreciated (until the end but we'll get to that)
- bridget was a good main character, if a little by the numbers
- the sex scenes were fun
- i was eating up a lot of the drama, it was very fun in parts

i don't know if this is a pro or con:
- ana huang's prose is pretty melodramatic and corny, and i was giggling and rolling my eyes in equal measure so ymmv i guess lol

cons:
- this book should not have been set so much during the events of the previous book because it made for very weird, fan-fictionesque pacing at the beginning
- rhys was way too alpha male for my taste and i ended up not really liking him, which meant i was meh on the relationship
- absolutely did not need to be so long, at least 20% could have been cut/trimmed down and it would have made for a tighter book
-
the proposal felt super rushed

technically a con but not the books fault: i wasn't crazy about the narrators, particularly the male narrator. also why is bridget's narrator using basically an american accent for her but rhys' narrator making her vaguely british?? anyway, not the books fault, but i wouldn't recommend the audiobook.

so i think my opinion skews more negative, and i did enjoy it less than defy the night which i just gave 2.75 stars so. a book that was not for me, ultimately.

This wasn't bad, I had a decently enjoyable time listening to it, but the writing was pretty repetitive and I was uninterested enough that I ended up falling more on the negative side (hence the rating).
