what if acotar had interesting fae lore and a decent romance
an actually good recent sff book that reminded me of the "classics" from the early 2010s, I didn't know that was possible.
usually when i love classics like this, it takes me a couple chapters to warm up to them, but damn, i was adoring this from a couple pages in. tysm mary shelley for inventing sci-fi.
already one of the dullest books possibly ever written, and then suddenly the series-long villains are presented in an unbelievably racist way. bad!
don't have a single original or interesting thought about this. it's great! can't wait to watch a ton of adaptations i've been putting off!
ended up enjoying myself enough, but found the first few chapters extremely rough. honestly everything just felt kind of bland, particularly the world and characters.
so close to being great. thank god we have a perfect season of television that capitalised on that and then some.
