So glad I read the bone clocks before this, because I'd have been so disappointed if I'd read that second. This was just so incredibly well crafted, and somehow manages to be a sort of philosophy-lite without ever feeling like it's trying to teach you something. Also many points where I caught onto some aspect of the story and almost fell out of my seat which is always a bonus.

Even the poems I liked I didn't like that much.
Truly don't understand why this is so popular, although I will admit me and American poets don't often get on awfully well.
Every poem seemed longer than it needed to be and tried to deal with about twelve themes at once. But then also I felt like nothing was being said. Idk, did not enjoy though oops.

Dated in parts, though with a certain compassion from the author that shines throughout.
Definitely a compelling argument for how medicine should be practiced, one way or another.
challenging funny informative reflective fast-paced

Essential reading. Definitely worth reading with recordings of the poems too.

Picked this up knowing nothing about it, not even that it was a short story collection. Was very impressed, particularly with the last three stories.
Felt the shorter stories a little more difficult to connect with/understand but the rest all hit perfectly.
