Very simple, and capitalising on the dream-feeling that Murakami's writing always has. Sweet, and physically a gorgeous book.

I did not expect to be laughing out loud while reading a book about lynching, but here we are.

I've read a couple of these before, and the ones I hadn't only confirmed that this sort of prose-poetry is definitely what I like.

Claire Keegan is very quickly becoming a favourite of mine. Short but completely realised and very well paced.

Ishiguro is really a master. I'm not sure that I particularly identified with some of the concepts going on in this one, but despite all of that I was completely drawn in by the end.

Solid, if a little self-congratulating from time to time. Well written, though, and very entertaining.

Not sure about this one. The style of writing is interesting, and it does fall into that category of British lit-fic that I tend to love, but something falls a little flat here.
Interesting, but not brilliant.

Oh my god. Oh my god.
Speechless.
I read this at a fairly steady pace but it did take me a while to finish, so I was pretty attached to the whole story by the end. And I was not disappointed in the slightest.

Was very surprised by how faithful the film is to this book, so reading it was a bit strange given how similar it was.
Really enjoyed the prose style and the characters are all really engaging (probably the one thing done better in the book).

Really strong and I appreciate it massively but it doesn't jive with me quite as well as my year of rest and relaxation did. I'm also semi sure I've read this before and blocked most of it out my brain cause certain passages felt insanely familiar. Anyway, pretty good.
