There were too many perspectives in too many places to get invested in any one of them, which wasn't helped by how often the perspective switches. I found the writing cheesy and kind of distracting. The character growth happened all at once instead of over the course of the whole book. The only reason it got 2 stars instead of one is because I still like some of the characters, but I don't think I will be continuing in this series.

The first 2/3 of this are boring and frustrating to the point that I dnf'd this reread for a while. The last third is great, though so I'll read the next book, since I loved Truthwitch so much. I really hope this series gets back on track. Also, I do want to mention that this book has a trans side character that is misgendered for almost the entire book and there were also issues with the way Cam was referred to and the lack of any real indication from Cam what pronouns he wants to use.

This was a well written romance that I generally enjoyed, but I couldn't connect to it emotionally as much as I wanted to for reasons unrelated to the quality of the book, which is why I'm not rating it. I did like the focus on platonic relationships and I appreciated the representation.

This was exactly what I'm looking for in a romance. I love how this couple takes care of each other. This also has exactly the right balance of romance to other relationships/aspects of life. I related to both main characters, but especially Ruth. This was paced a little differently than most of the romances I've read, especially at the end, but I actually really liked that about it. Talia Hibbert is more known for her more recent series, but this one is even better, in my opinion, especially if you like small town romances!
