Same great world building, now with character development and some actual plot!!! (YAY!). Glad I stuck around with this series. I'm interested in where it goes next now that the first major arc is done.
If you're looking for a book to read after watching the first season of Swamp Thing, this is a fantastic place to start. Like Animal Man Vol. 1 the book requires a basic understanding of the character (hence why it's great for fans of the show), but quickly goes off to spin it's own horrorific epic. The drama between Alec and Abby is great, the premise behind the Rot Kingdom allows the artists to go wild with the monster designs. Speaking of the art, kudos to the art team for the wonderful panel layouts. The inking and colors give book this wonderful oil & water, stainedglass look. It's fantastic and I cant wait to read more!
A crazy spy organization with Universal monsters as agents and run by a Doctor Who knock-off? Yes please! I read this shortly after reading a gore-filled horror book and Frankenstein: Agent of S.H.A.D.E. was a nice palette cleanser. It’s campy, cool, and just the right amount of crazy.
