Art continues to be fantastic, but the story becomes a mess to follow until the very end.
Not sure why some people are kinda down on this book. I was surprised that Barbie of all people resurfaced in this story, but I loved how her story resulted from the aftermath of The Sandman Volume 2. Maybe people just prefer the darker fantasy setting, but I thought Barbie's struggle to bounce back from her divorce and find who she is apart from being Ken's wife was compelling. The themes of identity, dreams OF our identity, and how we reinvent ourselves to either conform or better reflect who we are were well utilized, and I ended up really liking the secondary characters too! I really hope we see Barbie's neighbors show up in other stories! The final few pages are GUT WRENCHING but a great ending. Worth a read.
A long read, but a satisfying one as Gaiman ties up almost all the loose ends and binds Morpheus in the trap he's set for him since volume 7. A wonderful, satisfying end.
A crazy, zany Doom Patrol story that crosses over with the books being published under the Young Animal imprint (Cave Carson, Mother Panic, and Shade). If you’ve been keeping up with Gerard Way’s Doom Patrol this is a must read and a nice introduction to the other books as well.
