What a ride!

Loved this series. Loads of action and revenge. Loved the ending. Highly recommend the Mindf*ck series and ST Abby (CM Owens) other books!

More like a 3.5. I did not know what this book wanted to be and there was nowhere near enough Maven. Had this honestly been the first book in a series, I would likely not have continued.

It did redeem itself somewhat from around the final 1/4 ish of the book; with the ending predictable and not at all surprising.

Ugh that epilogue - why?! VA writes a good battle scene I'll give her that but I can't wait to be done with this seties, I just don't really care 🤷‍♀️

First half of the book was fairly boring, with our protagonist held captive and going batshit crazy along with her captor. Did not like the pov of Cameron, the third pov I didn't mind but I still don't particularly like that character. Everyone is a pawn in this series, it's not surprising.

Too long, could have been 400 pages tops. Shitty ending to a mediocre series - could have been so much more if it had followed the same vein as book 1.

Holy Calamity Steelslayer. Really enjoyed this one; David being as adorkable as per usual.

I voluntarily read and reviewed an advanced copy of this book. All thoughts and opinions are my own.

I'm on the fence - I wouldn't go out of my way to recommend it but it's an ok read, relatively short for the fantasy genre, about average for YA.  Would appeal to the younger end of the YA category if I'm being honest as I did, at times, feel a bit old to be reading it.  If you're looking to dip your toe into YA fantasy then this could be for you but personally it just wasn't really for me and doesn't stand up well against the other YA fantasies out there.

Wow. Just wow. What an ending to an amazing trilogy. I couldn't have chosen a better ending. if you like sci-fi/fantasy and guns, do yourself a favour and read about the adorkable David and The Reckoners.

Yay! Percys back.
