This book is cozy and easy with a simple message: reading allows the reader to develop empathy and people need to rely on others. The translator's note helped me appreciate the pieces I felt I was missing as a Western reader.

I haven't read a classic in a while and this book reminded me that classics are less about things happening and more about subtext and understanding what the world was like at that time. Once I studied it a little, I liked this book a lot more! Very atmospheric, lots of tension, but also
