  1.  I read book 2 because I wanted to know what happens.
  2.  | read book 2 because I hate unfinished series.

This book didn't need to be this long.

Estrella really shows her (human) age and immaturity all throughout the book.

She's petulant. She's argumentative. She's a pain in the butt.

The writing is consistent, which can sometimes not be the case with sequels and series.

The spice was spice-ing and the "claiming" felt very much a part of the story. Not forced.

What Lies Beyond The Veil
By Harper L. Woods.

⭐️⭐️⭐️.8

Let me start by saying it took me literal minutes of sitting in silence after finishing this book to understand how I feel about it.

I was hooked from the beginning in a way I still cant describe.

My heart instantly connected with the plight of Estrella.

From the time we meet Caelum, there’s already an inkling that we know who he is.

Adventure ensues.

Fated mates.

Then it all falls apart when the “big lie” gets revealed and Estrella is forced to sit with who she *thought* she was and who she is meant to become.

Classic rebellion.

So, to recap: starts off strong. Becomes predictable.

Will I continue the series? Yep. I kinda want to see Estrella own her space.

Final rating: like a 3.8ish. So I guess we can call it 4, rounding up. But it’s not a 4.
