Thank you to Edelweiss and the publisher for a copy of the book in exchange for an honest review.
The art in this novel was absolutely beautiful and the story was a joy to read. I really liked how soft and subtle the story developed, and how the characters interacted with one another in a way that felt realistic. I also really liked the random aquatic information, I didn't think I'd be learning too! I'm really in love with the characters, and the little salamander, and I can't wait to read more from this series!

While I love morally grey books, this one felt like…nothing really happened? With regards to the art style specifically, it felt as though the characters are given extremely dramatic facial and body expressions that didn’t line up with the actual conversations. Conceptually, this isn’t entirely new. Generally, this means that it requires a level of uniqueness to make it stand out. Unfortunately, Villainous fell flat when it came to providing something new to the anti-hero style genre.

This was a really fun book! I enjoyed it a lot and am almost kind of sad that it’s over. I can’t wait to read more from this series when more is translated to English.
The art in this story was absolutely beautiful, and this graphic novel could get many stars based on that alone. However, the story was interesting and unique to top it all off! Elle has a fantastic set of friends who are ready to help her find the answers, and they’re patient with the different versions of her. I thought that was a really cool aspect. Using the hair color to reflect these changes translated really well, as well.
Very excited for the next book!

I thought this was a sweet little graphic novel! It was pretty fast-paced with a lot of interesting characters. I wish we had gotten a little more world-building and backstory. They did a “tell don’t show” method of telling us the lore, which felt a little bit like a cop-out. The art was really gorgeous and I can’t wait to see what happens next!

Disclaimer, I adore the stories from Rick Riordan Presents. I’ve read quite a lot of them, and most of the ones I haven’t read are on my TBR. This was an exciting compilation of these heroes, and I enjoyed it quite a lot. I think something that I struggled with though was that for a couple of stories, I had no idea who the heroes were. This made the magic and the lore confusing, and hard to follow. This wasn’t the case for all the stories I didn’t know, but for a couple, I ended up skipping them.
All and all, I had a fun time reading this collection. I was introduced to some heroes I’m excited to read about. I got to follow heroes I know and love in exciting side adventures. This was well organized, and they stayed consistent with their worlds and stories.

Our last adventure with Hirka and Rime ended with Hirka entering the raven rings and going off into another world in search of our parents. Pettersen does a great job of picking right back up in this sequel. Hirka is in our modern-day human world, and it was interesting to see her interacting with modern things. I will say that it was somewhat jarring to transition from Ym to our world during the chapters with Rime, and that would interrupt my reading process. This was needed, but it threw me off. Additionally, we’re to believe Hirka doesn’t understand English, but that doesn't show well.
While the plot did have moments of lag that made me set the book down and struggle to pick it back up, this was still a solid continuation. I really liked the way the beak was used again, and how Hirka and Rime were used. It’s hard to review this without spoiling what happens. Just know, I’m excited for the next book in this series to be translated!
