Lumberjanes never say die, but I may have to with the new direction these comics are taking.

Thank you to Netgalley and the publisher for giving me a copy of this book in exchange for an honest review.
Murderbot is back, and just as sarcastic as ever. Wells does a fantastic job of keeping Murderbot’s internal monologue both interesting and amusing. There is a murder mystery aspect of this story, that you try to solve along with the bot. The interactions with other bots, and how Murderbot feels detached from humans but also bots, was interesting to read.
This was a fun book and a fun continuation of the story. If you haven’t started the series just yet, I absolutely recommend it to anyone who loves sci-fi, and snarky narrations.

4.5 stars, rounded up.
This book weaves stories within stories and a slow burn romance to die for. Something that surprised me about this book, was the gore. I love good body horror, and this book has it in settings that jar you from folkloric storytelling. It’s startling, at first, and nauseating. It makes this book have more depth than I originally expected it to.
Books that seem to focus primarily on the journey from one place to the other tend to drag on. At times, it felt like the book could have simply been shorter. However, these instances did make room for more of the slow burn romance. It’s a double-edged sword. I can’t wait to read more from Ava Reid.

Thank you to Flatiron Books for giving me a copy of this book in exchange for an honest review.
When I saw this book first on Netgalley, I was incredibly excited about it. With its comparison to Madeline Miller’s books, it seemed right up my alley. After reading this, I can honestly say it does not disappoint.
Ariadne starts as a little cold, and hard to connect to. Her emotions towards Theseus bring life to her, and her inherent betrayal more emotion. This story truly expanded upon characters that you don’t hear much about. The pacing of this writing was well done. The gentle hints at other myths as they all intertwined were perfect. If you are new to Greek myth, or familiar with these tales, you would appreciate the intricacies of this. Nothing feels too much like it assumes you know the history.
