I haven’t been a huge fan of this series so far. Regarding this book in particular, I wasn’t a fan of how Catherine was made to feel bad for assuming Emily was shallow because she was Ruth. That is a perfectly valid assumption to make! If you are writing a rich girl/ poor girl romance, the onus should be on the rich character to prove they aren’t a shithead, not on the poor girl to get over her hangups that are based in socioeconomic reality.

This trope-tasting and fourth-wall-breaking romance was very enjoyable. I didn’t connect with it quite as much as the first book in the series, but I would still recommend it, and am looking forward to the next entry in the series.

I really loved this combination of second-chance romance and Romeo & Juliet-style enemies-to-lovers romance. I loved hearing all about the different traditional and modern Cuban foods, and it made me very hungry! The audiobook narrator is brilliant, giving both main characters distinct voices and personalities, and is great at all the side characters too.

This book is so beautiful. I love the relationship that develops between the main characters so much. This book has everything I want in a nanny romance and more.

TB Markinson and Miranda MacLeod have hit it out of the park again with a heartfelt “best friend’s mum” romance that is a real page-turner. I finished this in one day!

When Simone, a doctor, is urged by her best friend to go out to a bar to watch her favourite band, she has no idea that the woman she ends up having a one-night stand with is her best friend’s ex-stepmother.

When Rowan, also a doctor, finds out her stepdaughter had food poisoning, she rushes over with soup, only to find her one-night stand already there looking after her.

Their paths continue to cross, and feelings start to develop. Can they have a happily ever after?

I really liked this! It’s super well written, and draws you in very quickly. It honestly felt like I had read a much longer book, in the best way. It all felt so mysterious and romantic!

This was sweet, kind of like a sapphic reimagining of While You Were Sleeping (please note that I haven’t seen While You Were Sleeping  since it first came out several decades ago, so like Clare, my memory may be inaccurate).

As several other reviews have pointed out, the resolution does feel a little rushed. I feel like it would have been more satisfying if the author had gone the rout of good communication followed by some soul searching and the characters working things out together, rather than a third act breakup and then a reunion.

I really liked this. A great paranormal mystery. I loved the parallel love stories, one straight couple and one lesbian couple.

I really loved the humour and the very English turns of phrase. The writing was top notch. I especially loved the use of the first person POV, with the characters directly talking to the reader, and even at one point interrupting each other, like they are sitting there telling you a story

I reaaaally enjoyed this book. I was so invested in the two MCs from the second they met. Now I need to go back and read the first two books in this series!
