informative
This was short, but intense and full of information. This is a searing indictment of colonization that digs into texts from Europeans (and Americans) in many different roles to illustrate the loss of humanity needed to enact colonialism. This printing also included an introduction that gave some good background on Césaire and some of his influences (and people he influenced) as well as an interview with him. Both go into other aspects of Césaire's work that were touched on in Discourse on Colonialism, but were not the main focus. They framed the piece very well and added to the experience. While I do wish I had more context for some of the philosophical jargon that I was less familiar with, but that just gives me reason to go back and re-read it later.

This was adorable! Enemies to lovers, fake marriage, and co-parenting -- but make it supernatural. I wanted more, but it was a joy to read.

I do not often read high fantasy often (outside of graphic novels) but I am so glad that I read this one. The world was incredible and the characters were so well-done. While this is fast-paced with a lot of action, there is an emotional depth throughout all of it that was so immersive. I also really loved how they approached the relationship and how all of that was written.
I will say, the last 1/4 of the book or so did go *really* fast and did leave me a little confused at parts. This could very well have been me (as I mentioned, I don't read a lot of high fantasy nor do I read a lot that's action-oriented like this). But over all, this was amazing. It's definitely one of my favorites of this year! I highly recommend it and I will be the first in line to get the sequel and everything else this author writes!

I was expecting this to be sweet and adorable -- I was not expecting it to be such an accurate (at least from my experience) portrayal of anxious, neurodivergent experience with comp het. Can't wait for volume 2!
(Note: they don't say explicitly anyone's sexuality or label any neurodivergencies -- that's my interpretation of her behavior)
