I adore this book! The Problem With Cupid by Robin Daniels is the second book in her novella series Holiday Romance and follows Evan, the failed romantic interest from book one. If you enjoy romantic comedies and sweet romance, you are in for a treat with this one.

I loved Evan in the first book, so when I saw that he was getting his own story (at Valentine’s Day no less!) I knew I had to read it. Evan is the classic playboy, lots of dating and never really into anything serious. After his failed attempt to date Garland’s sister over Christmas break, Evan is reevaluating his love life and taking a pause on the dating scene. But just because he’s hitting the breaks doesn’t mean his roommate has too. And so Evan decides to play Cupid. He will set his quirky roommate up with the perfect girl….as soon as he finds her.

Meet Abby. Abby is the quintessential nerdy, shy girl. And she’s hot. Perfect for Garland in Evan’s opinion. Abby is sweet, her sense of humor odd, but she makes Evan laugh. And she intrigues him. He can’t get enough of his new friend. The only problem, he’s supposed to be finding a girl for Garland, not himself.

Overall I really enjoyed this short holiday romance. Daniels delivers a sweet, steamy romance that will leave you smiling long after you finish the book. If you enjoy novellas and college romance, I highly recommend it!

All I Want for Christmas is You by Miranda Liasson is my favorite of the Angel Falls series so far. This time we are getting Rafe and Kaitlyn’s story. These two have been featured in both the previous books of the series, so I knew their story was coming. But y’all….it was SO much better than I expected.

The book opens with Kaitlyn Barnes finding out she is pregnant. The father….her best friends’ little brother, who also happens to be her friend. Naturally she is freaking out. Not about being a mother, but losing her friends and telling Rafe. I love Kaitlyn. The idea of being a mother doesn’t scare her at all. She’s even a little excited, albeit puzzled that it could happen using two forms of birth control and all. Yet she worries about Rafe, who has actively avoided her since they were together at the wedding. They crossed a line that they can’t uncross in their friendship, and the fallout scares Kaitlyn.

Rafe Langdon is the younger brother of the Langdon sisters. He’s a first responder/firefighter and a love them and leave them kinda guy. However sleeping with Kaitlyn was a mistake. It brings up feelings he’s not ready to admit he has. After losing his fiancé in a car crash years earlier, he swore off women. But Kaitlyn makes him remember what it is like to love someone which scares him and why he has been avoiding him.

Overall I loved All I Want for Christmas is You. Rafe and Kaitlyn are such a good fit. The story and how their relationship evolves is sweet. These are two best friends learning how they fit together. If you enjoy sweet, contemporary romance, I highly recommend it.

Ninth House by Leigh Bardugo is the first book in her debut adult series. I love Bardugo’s other works so I had high expectations going in. I was not disappointed

Gah! Y’all I stayed up way too late to finish this book because I NEEDED to know what was going to happen. I knew a cliffhanger was coming, it wouldn’t be a Kristoff book without a horrific cliffhanger, but this cliffhanger destroyed me. If you’ve read book one, you’ll understand this next statement….it isn’t as bad as LIFEL1K3's cliffy, but it comes close

I received an ARC of this book via the publisher. This does not affect my opinion of the book or the content of this review.

So far I have not found a Debbie Mason book that I didn’t enjoy and that holds true reading the first book in her new series, Highland Falls. Summer on Honeysuckle Ridge is a sweet contemporary romance that whisks you away to the hill country of North Carolina and the fictional town of Highland Falls. Following the story of a recent divorcee who has inherited a portion of her great-aunt’s farm and the grumpy vet who received the rest of it, Debbie Mason steals your heart and leaves you smiling once again.

Abby Everhart is an absolute treat. I fell in love with this character slowly. At first she comes off as shallow and your stereotypical rich girl. Quickly you learn that is not the case. She has a bubbly personality, one that draws everyone to her. She’s genuinely kind, like give you the clothes on her back kind of person. These qualities make her intriguing to our hermit vet who lives in the barn on his side of the property.

Hunter MacKenzie is a broken man who is just learning to live again when Abby blows into his life like a hurricane. He is a decorated war hero, yet that isn’t how he sees himself. It’s clear that he deals with PTSD, and I like how Mason handles this in the book. Hunter can come off as cold and unfeeling at times, but when we get his POV chapters it’s clear that isn’t the case. He cares too much, and to protect himself he closes his life off from everyone. It isn’t until Abby arrives that Hunter realizes just how lonely he’s been.

The plot of this book centers around Abby and Hunter, their grudging friendship, and the farm. Abby plans to renovate and sell as quickly as she can. The problem is that her divorce left her with nothing. She’s at the mercy of the vet next door to lend a helping hand. Hunter wants Abby gone. She’s disrupted his life and quiet routine. He wants her to leave until one day he realizes he enjoys her company. This revelation leads him down a new path, one he isn’t sure he’s ready for. I love the dynamic Mason sets up between the two. While the blurb touts it as an enemy to lovers trope, I’m not sure I’d qualify it as that. They are more indifferent to each other than actual enemies. However it is a sweet romance that you can’t help rooting for.

Overall I really enjoyed Summer on Honeysuckle Ridge. Mason proves with each book that she can make you smile and fall in love. With this being the first in the series, there was quite a bit of world-building, setting up the small town of Highland Falls and its people. I love small town romances, and I love the characters that make this small town feel real. I can’t wait to read more! If you enjoy sweet, contemporary romances, Summer on Honeysuckle Falls makes the perfect weekend read.
