The first 75% of this book was so. Slow. It felt like it dragged on and on... with just enough interest to make me want to finish and find out what actually happened. The last 25% of the book was full of twists and turns and was actually a page-turner. But I'm not quite sure it was worth recommending, unless you really don't mind a very slow and dragged out start.

I enjoyed this one, but probably not as much as the first novella... partly because this was very insta-love (although it's a short story set in a very short time span, so that makes sense) and partly due to the high pitched tone the narrator gave the MC. It was just enough to make me feel like I was listening to a YA set in High School. But the story was cute and a quick listen and I'll still read anything Ali writes at this point.

Fake It Till You Bake It is an almost enemies to lovers fake dating rom com that skirts the line between being a light and fluffy read and making you feel all the feels. After a little bit of a slow start in which I wasn't sure how I was going to feel, the story picked up and Jada and Donovan's chemistry started to sizzle a bit more. For the second half of the book I was totally engaged and invested and didn't want to put it down. If you're looking for a diverse romance by a female POC author, look no further and pick this one up!

I enjoyed this book, and for the majority of it I really loved it. But the ending felt very rushed and unsatisfying. There appears to be another book coming that looks to be in this world... so I'm hopeful that it will be a continuation of the story and may make up for the ending.
