From Blood and Ash is everything I love in Paranormal Romance. There are vampires and shifters and humans who get caught up in their web of secrets and lies.
Poppy is the Maiden. She’s to stay separated from all others, except the very few who know her without her veil. She is to be subservient and play her part the biggest tradition known to her world. She is to be the Maiden and nothing else.
But Poppy isn’t a meek woman. Yes, she tries to play the part, only so she isn’t punished. But she can’t hide her strength and courage no matter how hard she tries.
When she meets her new guard, Hawke, the walls start to come down little by little. She starts to let him see her for who she is under the veil, and she also starts to see herself better because of him.
Full of sass and plenty of steam, this is quickly one of my new favorite books and I can’t wait to continue the series!

I only have one question... why did I wait so long to read this book!? This interpretation of Belle & her Beast was intriguing and captivating.
Sarah J. Maas has created a world in which Fae and Humans exist together but separate. The tales that have been passed down generations in the human world have begun to become a distant memory to some, having been forgotten with the Fae safely hidden behind the wall. Feyre is simply a young human girl trying to keep a promise she made to her mother. She’s taking care of her family, hunting and selling at the market to earn the money needed to keep them fed (although not particularly well) and clothed (at least in the case of her sisters). However, even her seemingly giving heart holds hatred... for both her family AND the fae. While hunting one winter day, Feyre makes a decision that will change her life, and her family, forever.
I enjoyed watching the characters transform, hearts softening and expectations altered. What was once something to hate has become what is loved most. By the end, you realize that the story has morphed into something unique that leaves you wanting more. I can’t wait to read the rest of the ACOTAR series and more of SJM’s books!

It's been a while since I read a sports romance, especially a YA, but I really enjoyed In the Penalty Box.
The banter between not just Willow and Brodie, but also the entire team, was fun and brought a lightness to what could have turned into a very heavy read. There are definite trigger warnings with themes of parental abandonment and a lot of car accidents going around. But for the most part, the story wrapped up nicely with a mostly Happily Ever After.
I especially appreciated the way Willow's story played out at the end. I won't say too much, to avoid spoilers, but I thought that she handled her own situation in a very mature way and completely agreed with and understood her reasoning. That said, I think it made Willow seem a bit older than her years... I'm not sure the average 17 year old would be that mature. Then again, Willow is not quite an average 17 year old, either.
Overall, I really enjoyed this book and would recommend it to anyone who loves a good sports romance, especially fans of hockey or figure skating.

This book was incredible. It's not often that I step into a book that I simply cannot put down. This was one... I finished this book in under 24 hours and haven't stopped thinking about it.
The Inheritance Games follows Avery and the Hawthorne brothers as they try to solve the mystery of why their grandfather disinherited the family from his 46 billion dollar estate, and left it all to this unknown girl, Avery. While we still don't know exactly why Avery was chosen, by the end, we've had a lot of fun figuring out the riddles and scavenger hunt left for them to solve together.
This story was very engaging and the pacing was perfect. There was never a moment that I felt bored or like it was a good spot to put the book down. I was constantly in a state of needing to know what happened next. Yes, even at the end... though it wasn't a nail-biting cliffhanger, it has definitely set up the sequel to be just as amazing as the first.
