This was such a cute YA rom com. I love that there are more books targeted toward young girls that don't focus on how you have to make yourself "more pleasing" to be loved by someone. She is a healthy girl who isn't a size 0, and she's ok with that and approaches it with a very mature attitude when discussing it with others. She still has a bit of self-doubt, but I don't think it would be realistic for anyone to go through life without facing those feelings from time to time, especially in High School. Overall, loved the story and can't wait for more from this author!

This was a fairly cute accidental pregnancy trope. I expected it to be more like a Cinderella retelling but it really didn't have that feel and the title came more from just the first meet-cute. The female main character especially seemed incredibly stubborn and most of the conflict was due to her belief that she didn't need anyone and can do it all by herself. While I commend a woman for being independent, it was definitely taken a bit too far in that her heart was entirely closed off and she refused to even attempt to let anyone in. There was also a bet that felt like it weighed way too much on her decision. I've read books with bets before, but I don't think I've ever read one where the character was quite this stubborn about it, to the extent that they are willing to sacrifice their own happiness for their stubbornness. I just don't love this type of conflict I guess. But overall, I'll round up to 4 stars, though I do think it's more of a 3.5 star read for me.

A mashup I didn't know I needed - monsters and historical romance! I've definitely confirmed that I have a thing for gargoyles. As usual, Nascosta writes a sweet but spicy monster romance that leaves you craving more. It's the start of a new series and I can't wait to see what's next!
