I know I hyped it up in my head too much, so of course I was a little disappointed. I love the characters, love Miller and Talon, the Damon and Maddox cameo, Felix is one of my favorites so I'm glad he was there, and I'm pretty interested in Brady's book now with a little backstory added.
I just felt like I missed a few chapters in the middle where they actually fell for each other. It felt like the had their hookup, ran into each other, immediate love. I felt like nothing actually happened to justify those feelings other than they have a connection? It wasn't developed as well as I would've liked. Insta-love, basically, which was a little disappointing after reading most of Eden Finleys books before. Maybe it was just because it was part of the FU series which was all in all pretty low key.
Overall, not the best, not the worst, and I liked the characters.
Series overall, it had ups and downs, but it was fun to see all the different characters and how they perceive each other and their relationships outside the main characters story. A fun time, low key angst and cute fluff all around.
August 2024 reread and audiobook:
Peyton is ready to finish his college football career and follow in his dad's footsteps of being the next NFL superstar. When an old flame that stoked his sexual awakening shows up at his college, he has to decide if it's worth it to take a chance on love even with mounting outside pressure of his future career.
I liked Peyton and Levi but it felt like they fell into their feelings pretty quickly. They had one hook up from years prior, and both can't seem to get it out of their head. Levi sees Peyton as an embodiment of all he wants - freedom from his family and actual happiness. Levi is the only person Peyton has felt true feelings for and even with his future taking off, doesn't want to let that go. He is able to understand Peyton in a way no one else has, wanting him besides the football and the money. I thought they were a good couple and could see their potential, I just wish we got to see them fall for each other a little more.
This reminds me a lot of Eden's FU 2 book (that I read recently) where the romance is lost a bit to the plot. There wasn't exactly any build up besides their one hook up years ago, and then Peyton is all of a sudden having a crisis of football or Levi. It just seemed there were a couple steps missing. What saved the book was all of the character cameos from other Sadenverse books - Miller and Talon of course, but also Felix, Marshall, Damon, and Maddox. Plus all the fun hints for Brady's book! Loved the characters, the story was alright. A nice conclusion to the Franklin U series.

Something just felt off this whole book, like there was this disconnect between everything. I didn't really feel the chemistry between the characters, or the angst. I didn't mind them, there just wasn't anything there to draw me in. Maybe it was the details of the day to day, or the characters gasping problem - especially Alex, boy was gasping all over the place. Bailey was also a pretty immature character, I get that it was for ~the plot~ but it seemed a bit extreme and constant enough that it got boring.
There was some repeated thoughts in their internal monologues - exactly word for word - I'm not sure if this was to show the characters having a similar thought process or just lazy writing but it stood out enough to me.
Not my favorite, probably my least favorite of the FU series just because I couldn't connect with any of it.

This one was definitely a favorite, easy to read. Low low angst, but I still enjoyed it which doesn't normally happen. I really loved the characters, both types are my favorite kind to read about. I just wanted to wrap Vincent in a hug and never let go, and I loved how perfect Cobey was - too perfect? Eh maybe but it felt good to read about. The little newspaper article in the back definitely made me tear up, so cute.

After struggling in his classes, Cobey's parents move him into the dorms and tell him to find a tutor. Vincent's new roommate Cobey is a football star, super popular, and a super nice guy, who happens to need help in Vincent's specialty. They make an agreement, Cobey will help Vincent come out of his shell and socialize more while Vincent will tutors him in math. But as they grow closer with the more laughs they share and the more intimate their lessons become, when it comes to their new feelings they both have a steep learning curve.
Vincent and Cobey are just so dang adorable. Vincent has this pretty tragic backstory that's just casually sprinkled in. It's so sad how he basically had to raise himself which is why he struggles socially, but Cobey couldn't be more perfect for him. Cobey is just a really good guy who has an abundance of love to give to Vincent. Vincent struggles a little with self esteem and intimacy, but Cobey supports him every step of the way. Vincent also does the same for Cobey and is his biggest cheerleader, not only for football but for his academics too. Just two sweethearts pushing each other to be the best they can be with so much love all around.
This book was such a cute comfort read for me. I remember it being my favorite of the Franklin U books the first time around, and it's definitely still up there. There were so many "aw" moments, nice friendships, but as sweet as it was there's a little kick of spice as well. The little newspaper article that's in the back of the book (not in the audiobook) is so stinking cute and makes me cry every time. Definitely a feel good, low angst read!

This was a whole different vibe than the previous books in the series, a lot softer, romantic, emotional, serious. Nothing wrong with that but it got a little slow at times. I would've thought there would've been more angst with the two year crush and dad issues, but it was pretty low key. I thought Chris would've been a bit more personable from the vibes in the other books, I still liked both the characters it was just a bit slower and therefore a little meh. Though, the smut scenes were put in pretty perfect places within the story and were just the right amount without being too much, which is writing talent that's overlooked sometimes.
I'm not a huge fan of writers who do excessive descriptions of body reactions/emotions like crackles on skin, feelings in chest, air thickening, etc etc because it can be a bit much and loses my attention. Just a stylistic preference
June 2024 Reread & Audiobook:
Chris has been crushing on his hot science guy from afar since starting college, while Aiden has been focused on nothing but surviving his pre-med courses. After a chance encounter, Chris finally talks to his long time crush and finds he's better than he imagined. Aiden has to put school first and doesn't have time for anything else, but can't help the freedom and easiness that Chris makes him feel. Chris has the power to break through Aiden's walls if only Aiden would let him.
I thought Aiden and Chris were really sweet. Chris is so patient and loving with Aiden, he's such a simp honestly but he truly cares about what Aiden wants and needs. Aiden can't help but fall for his easy charm. Chris shows Aiden there's more to life than how he's living, and gives him something of his own to fight for. They have so much in common from their love of music to their sense of humor - they really are a perfect match.
This has a bit of a different vibe from the previous FU books. A little more serious and emotional than fun and silly, but I'm a fan of A.M. Johnson so I enjoyed it. I think it's funny that in my previous review I said I didn't love her style, just goes to show that tastes and opinions can change! I think coming off the other FU books it was a bit more of a shock, but on its own it reads a lot better. I enjoyed revisiting this FU book, and can't wait to get to the rest!

Honestly I liked this one the best so far in the series. They aren't my favorite couple - Marshall is just adorable and I can't get over his cuteness - but I did like them overall and I liked the romance. The side characters also were interesting and gave a good amount to the story too.
I haven't read a "bet" plot in a long while so it was nice and new to me. Also as someone who studied environmental policy and marine biology it was kinda cool to see a main character in that field - even if he was way more ambitious than me.
It's a typical story line but I liked the writing style. I was a little nervous with it being shorter but it worked out well.
April 2024 Reread:
Spencer lives next door to the obnoxious DIK frat house, including the charming yet annoying Corey. All Spencer wants to do is study and work so he can afford school. After yelling at Corey about some shenanigans, Corey decides to try to woo the prickly Spencer. Corey's friends bet he can't seduce Spencer, but he bets he knows how to get the uptight yet crazy hot neighbor to loosen up.
I actually really liked Corey and Spencer. Spencer is so focused on school and sometimes forgets to live out in the world he's studying. Corey brings a lightness to his life, charming his way in when Spencer wasn't looking for someone. Corey has lived up his college years, but Spencer gives him a new perspective on what he's been missing by playing the field. Together they find a confidence to go after what they want - both with each other and for their futures. They had some really sweet and romantic moments, while still having some interesting voyeuristic spice.
I don't read a lot of "bet" stories but I really enjoyed this one. There are fun side characters that were pretty interesting too. I loved the whole DIKcon idea and also all the marine wildlife talk as an old marine bio student. Spencer out here living my dreams! It's a shorter book but I'm a fan of Neve's writing so it worked for me. Onto the next in my FU reread!

More just cute fluff, funnier than the previous two but it lacks some of the more naturally romantic parts. Charlie is the cutest most oblivious good hearted character, and I love that he loves Liam for who he is and how Liam supports him. I would say besides the smut scenes it was low key on the romance, but good funny banter for sure. I gotta know what this "cult" is that Matt and Ian are from

While he's very friendly and sociable, he does have his own insecurities. Liam doesn't make him feel judged or dumb and is always there for him when he's struggling. Liam has never been someone's person. He has friends, but Charlie gives him his undivided attention and shows he cares in so many ways. My love language is an acts of service, so basically everything Charlie did I swooned over. It took them a second to stop being silly and realize their feelings, but I loved how cute they were.
When I first read this I liked it, but wasn't too impressed. I'm not sure if it was because the audio was great or I'm just a bigger sap these days but I really enjoyed it a second time around. Louisa Masters definitely got me interested in her other books that are more paranormal. Excited to read her next book in FU 2!

It started really well, but then all the feelings went from 0 to 100 all of a sudden and it made me a little confused, like Felix flipped on his emotions pretty fast and I couldn't even pinpoint a reason why. I did like both the characters, Marshall is so adorable and while I couldn't figure out how or why Felix was suddenly doing everything he could to get him, I did appreciate that he appreciated Marshall as much as he did. Miscommunication trope isn't my favorite, or anyone's favorite, but there wasn't any crazy drama because of it.
Brady's book isn't apart of the Franklin U series, but I'm so curious about how that will end up as a Fake Boyfriend series fan.
January 2024 Reread:
I swear every book I reread recently I like them more the second time around. Either I'm way more laid back or less picky these days. I absolutely adored this book on my reread and flew through it. Oddly enough I didn't have the same issues I mentioned in my first review (on GoodReads).
Felix and Marshall are set up on a blind date the fails spectacularly that leads Marshall a little insecure and Felix feeling rejected. A few weeks later, Marshall moves to a shared house and it turns out Felix is one of his roommates. Their insecurities lead to a good amount of miscommunication, but they can't seem to stay away from each other. As they learn more about each other, they become determined to prove to the other how special they think they are.
I love both Felix and Marshall. Felix comes off spoiled and selfish but it's really just a defense mechanism to stop himself from getting hurt. Marshall sees through this facade and loves how sassy and adorable Felix is. They are complete opposites, Felix is sex positive and outgoing while Marshall is demisexual, inexperienced, and an introvert. They fit together so perfectly because these differences are their favorite thing about the other. I'm a sucker for a guy carrying the other, and cuddling, and basically all the soft and swoony moments between these two adorable sometimes idiots
Now, a lot of the plot revolves around miscommunication. However, I didn't really mind because it was the least angsty miscommunication ever. I usually don't like the trope because it leads to dumb choices by the MCs, but that wasn't the case here. The only thing that could make this book better would be more cute scenes of Felix and Marshall's connection growing.
Still loving the Franklin U reread, and this book has some fun Frat Wars and Divorced Men's Club cameos! I'm a big Sadenverse fan and absolutely love seeing these little crumbs from the other series, like Brady and his SEALs. Excited to continue with my FU favorites.
