Definitely recommend the audiobook!! Apparently there are some cool textual effects in the print version but this voice actor is killer (no pun intended). They transform their voice just like the narrator transforms their body. Explores topics of gender, sexuality, and disability through the alien narrator. Bite sized horror story like a few chunks of jerky thrown down your gullet 😁

Reminded me of Melissa Broder’s novels in the brutal honesty and flaws of the narrator. Some moments were really impactful and beautiful, others left me scratching my head a bit. The last section felt rushed and detached from the rest of the story.

I honestly can’t believe I read this whole thing. I did skip over some parts of the forum posts because they got waaaay too in depth about books that don’t exist. I liked the posts at first because it established the setting, but mid way through I was starting to feel like, what the hell are they talking about? I don’t know because I haven’t read the books, and actually no one has because they don’t exist! Wanted a little more out of the twist ending but it was decent. The podcast at the end brought it full circle in a way, but I wish they had revealed something new in that final chapter. (Like the did in AUFT!!) But now I really need to take a break from sinister books about fandom. I love it but it’s getting to be too much.

I have never read anything like this before and I don’t think anything like it will ever be written again. Wow. Wooooow. This is a THRILLER! The epilogue gave me Full Body Chills! True crime. Fandom. Conspiracies. Blogs. Hyperlinks. Delusion gay ships. Incredibly unreliable narrators. This has it all!!!!!! Can’t wait for Last Seen Online to be available in the US.

This series is nuts and I couldn’t stop reading

After reading some very reader-friendly books about TV and fandom I’m not really in the mood for something from the academic lens. And I want to return it to the library. Might try another time

I didn’t realize this was a collection of previously published articles/essays about shows from the past couple decades or so. It left me wanting a bit more of a through line at times, but I also really enjoyed reading about shows that made an impact in the context that they were actually being watched for the first time. Added a lot of shows to my watchlist after reading
