Had to read it for work. Not much else to say

Really quite sad!

Such a good variety of narratives. Diverse in writings styles and experiences

Okay I don’t think I’m giving this a super fair shot by stopping at 44 pages, and I think I kind of ruined it for myself by reading some reviews, but I just don’t think it’s gonna be worth my time. The whole body jumping thing is just not my vibe, and I don’t need to read about a voluntary Hunger Games where everyone is basically so hopeless that they might as well kill a bunch of people or die. And yeah, the motivations seem kind of random and implausible. Sorry, Chloe!!! There’s nothing wrong with writing YA and I think she should stick to it.

Only negatives that come to mind: 1. I felt like I knew all of the characters very well except Richard. Sometimes his narration felt very emotionless and I just didn’t understand who he was as a person. But I guess he reinvented himself so maybe he doesn’t really know who he is either. 2. I wanted a little more of a big reveal with Henry.

He was obviously scheming the entire time, and admitted to Richard that he ultimately felt no emotions in his life until he killed the farmer. It seems like maybe that first kill was actually on purpose? What if he remembered more of it than he let on, and somehow implicated the others?

 

But overall a very gripping story, it was a slow build but had enough teasers for what was to come to keep me in anticipation.

So weird but cool reading a thriller where the narrator is the villain! The end was especially chilling.

(Review for full series) Meh, definitely not as gripping as the novels. Wasn’t too attached to any of the characters. The one thing that was really cool was that the visuals were so similar to what I imaged when reading the novels. Testament to V.E. Schwab’s imagery!

The lore was a little tough to follow but still enjoyable without fully understanding it. Some really great art, somewhat forgettable characters. Said to be continued but nothing yet!
