I really wanted this to be a book on girls with Asperger's that is full of lots of factual information, from real research studies. It is not anything of the kind.

The truth is that it is more of a memoir of living with Asperger's as a female. However, that is not a bad thing. In fact, as a women with Asperger's I so enjoyed reading other people's perspectives - which were a validation of my life experiences - that I could not rate this book anything less then a four. That being said - the research was pretty light, which lost it a star.

I am also a mother of a daughter on the spectrum. I think that this book would be pretty eye opening for mother's of female Aspies - if they do not have Asperger's themselves. The advice defiantly puts the focus entirely on the parents - yet, that is kind of what being a parent is about.

I think this book is best targeted for female adults who are on the spectrum. I wish it would be a better fit for professionals, for even more extended family members. I do not think it really is. There is still really a need for this type of book to exist. As of now it does not.
