Predator's Gold

American savages, screw women, dwarfs to amuse royalty. The women are all stereotypical and ruled by looks and emotion. If it was making a point or that I would hold on. But it just seems thrown together and two dimensional.

The book just kept going all over the place. Nothing connected me to the story and I found myself not wanting to continue, so I decided to DNF. This book was sold to me as autism representation, but 16% in I did not see any.

It’s fine. It’s just not for me.

Didn’t realize it is a sequel. But it seems like a bad rip off of reality and a all tech is evil rant.

Divergent Mind: Thriving in a World That Wasn't Designed for You

She claimed that racism, homophobia, and transphobia were all taken care of so now people needed to make the same acceptance for ADHD and autism. What a privileged view. What white person has the right to say racism isn’t a concern anymore? And I know first hand homophobia and transphobia are still a major concern. More then having to pass because of my autism. Then she goes on to say that she is just going to use women to refer to all genders because it is a genderless experience. But if it is a genderless experience then why did you specifically search out for research on women? Because it is not! Just own that. Say you are only talking about cis women don’t discount my non-binary identity! There is validity it talking about the cis women experience for neurodivergency and I could have accepted that. But instead you defended yourself by invalidating the large percentage of non-binary and trans autistic and neurodivergent people. And I only made it to page 9!

The Wolf and the Woodsman

I DNFed at 60%. I am trying to limit the YA books I pick up, but The Wolf and the Woodsman was presented as different and fresh. I listened to it via audio, and the narration was great. However, the book was not for me.

I try to not judge YA. It is written for young adults and not a 40 year old person. But…the main character was facing death and just kept lamenting over this guy that had shown her no interest. It was Insta lust and not well done in my opinion. Then the first half the book nothing happened. I gave it 10% more but finally decided to stop. I just didn’t enjoy the characters and the plot was boring.

Others may absolutely love this book. It all depends on what you look for in a book. If you love angst then this may be a perfect fit. The writing itself was fine, which is why I waited so long to DNF. In the end I decided to give it to others on the waitlist.

I have workplace based PTSD and this book was triggering. The workplace was so toxic and I know that is the point, but the anxiety it produced was too much for me to continue. Don’t let it stop you from picking this up though!!

The ADHD Advantage: What You Thought Was a Diagnosis May Be Your Greatest Strength

Dale Archer

DID NOT FINISH

I read to 50 pages and stopped. I agree with the authors opinions. My problem is that this is a non fiction book, I should be reading a well researched fact based book. The references are mostly from newspaper articles not peer reviewed journals. The book is mostly based on antidotal stories that were one sided. The author made the claim that most college students with ADHD drugs gave away their medication and did not cite a source for this. That is a big generalization to make without backing it up.

It is unethical to tout a medical degree as qualification to write a book and then continually use The New York Times, CNN, and even WIRED as your citations.
