Very interesting

I really enjoyed the dystopian aspect of this story. I wish that this was a series because I really want to know more.

Wow!!! This is one of those books where you really don't like the characters and yet you love them!
This story was so moving I am sitting here trying to compose this review and really don't know what to say. I will say that this book is not what I was expecting but I am so glad that I read it. It really does show how flawed people can be and what they will do to be happy.

This is a heart renching story! I think that this is one of the most touching accounts of what these people went through. It's hard to review this book without spoiling some of the book. I am just going to say that Elie went through a time that I do not think many of us could make it through today and because of his will to live he made it out alive. If you want a accurate picture of what life in a concentration camp was like read this book.

Wow I now see why people say this is such an amazing book. I need some time with my thoughts before I write a full review.

A Little Life by Hanya Yanagihara
Trigger Warnings for: self-harm, sexual abuse, physical abuse, and emotional abuse
All you really need to know about this book is that it is about four men who meet in college and become friends and how their relationships grow closer or fall apart throughout the span of their adult lives. The four friends are Willem, JB, Malcom, and Jude. The story centers mostly on Jude and his life before and after he meets his friends.
What I loved about this story is the friendship. I think Yanagihara did an amazing job of showing the struggles of juggling life and keeping friendships strong. Another thing I liked about this story was the writing style and how we got to see through the eyes of a multitude of the characters. One of my favorite quotes from the book is “He got to see his friends differently, not as just appendages to his life but as distinct characters inhabiting their own stories; he felt sometimes that he was seeing them for the first time, even after so many years of knowing them.” I think that this story showed the struggles of family and friends of a person with mental illness.
Another quote that really struck me while reading was “He had been born, and left, and found, and used as he had been intended to be used.” This quote is heartbreaking to me because of how people in Jude’s early life really did make him feel this way.
I didn’t like how people around Jude just let Jude do what he wanted and never forced him to get help. They knew even if Jude didn’t tell them till later what had happened to him when he was younger that something was wrong and that he needed help. I think that this story showed how people enable those that they love even when they know it is wrong.
I think that this book is beautifully written and deserves all of the praise it gets because it is a heart wrenching story. I gave this book 5 out of 5 stars.

I love this book soooooo much! I love how we see Liesel growing to love her foster parents and the relationship that she comes to have with books. This story is great because it shows just how much people needed each other during WWII and just because people were German didn't mean that they agreed with everything the Nazi party was about. This is a great coming of age story and I would recommend it to anyone.
