What would you do if you were left on Mars to die? Mark Watney decides to survive.

In this story we are along for the ride as our main character tries to figure out how he is going to survive after being left on Mars because the crew believed him to be dead. As someone who is fairly new to the genre of sci-fi and having tried to read this book once before and DNFing it; I can definitely see how this might not be everyone's thing.
I think that Andy Weir has a very distinct writing style and after reading one of his other books this year it made me want to go back and try this one again. As a debut novel I think that the research that went into this book is fantastic. Weir made me feel like I was really stuck on Mars with Watney and trying to figure out how he was going to survive. The science seemed to me to be really well researched and the reasoning behind why Watney thought through things the way that he did really made sense to me because of his background.
If you really don't want to know the drawn out process of how someone would grow crops on Mars or the way that they would collect water this may not be the book for you.
I really enjoyed this book and feel like Andy Weir is an author I will be going back to when I am in the mood for more sci-fi.

This was a very interesting group of short stories. I feel like I learned so much about the black experience that I didn't already know but just reading this book. I feel like each of the stories was very powerful in its own way. I found that some of the authors writing styles worked better for me than others but I still found all of the stories interesting and helped me to see things from a different perspective.
While reading these stories I was trying to keep and open mind and know that I wasn't always going to relate to the characters because a lot of them were experiencing things that I have never personally experienced and I found the journey of following these characters experiences eye opening.
I think two of my favorite stories in this collection would have to be Whoa! and Warning: Color May Fade. These two stories moved me the most out of the whole collection.
I am excited to now read more from the authors in this collection.
