I feel like I was listening to this book but that I couldn't keep my attention to what was going on. My life also kind of crumbled after I started reading this so I think I will put it down for now and then I will try to pick it back up again.

This book was such a thought provoking look at the life of black people and the struggles that they endure just because of the color of their skin and how that treatment affects their lives in every aspect. I think that our characters were so well fleshed out and that they felt like people that I could know in real life. 
I think that the situation that these characters encounter are ones that I have never personally had to deal with, but I do know it made me look at my life and wonder what I would do if put in this situation. This brought some things to light for me about the black experience that I was unaware of and that is why I will continue to read book about and by people who have a different lived experience than me. 

This was a fun story that I can see many younger readers enjoying. I think it does a great job of showing what good friendships look like. I think that the character of Emmy was such a relatable character.
I feel like the plot of the story was well done. I think that this book did a great job of creating a self contained mystery while leaving the reader with just enough question for them to be interested in the second book. I will be continuing on with series in the near future.
