I've been on a Greek retellings kick lately, and this satisfied. I really liked how Haynes structured this retelling. It was complicated without being confusing. It focuses on the women in Greek stories, which I found refreshing.

Wow! There is nothing I did not love about this book, which I know is an opinion that many share and many don’t. Rooney’s simple idea--a pair of people that circle each other for years--is executed with sharp brilliance. The novel itself is tight, cleanly composed, and absolutely realistic. This book is perhaps the best depiction of young love I have ever read. And, woah, do so many people hate it! I scrolled through so many one and two star reviews on Goodreads. I can’t understand why people dislike it so thoroughly. It’s the epitome of real love!

I am not one for poetry, but when I heard Gorman read her poem at Biden's inauguration, I knew I had to read it again. It is beautiful.

I really liked this collection of short stories. Each story was well plotted, well developed, and had great, interesting characters. There was not a single story I didn't enjoy.

This book is beautiful. I wish I could read it again for the first time. It focuses very much on the flaws and misgivings of the characters, and I really liked that. It clips along without feeling rushed.

I think I ruined this book just a little bit by reading Michaelides’ “The Maidens” first. Though I was shocked by how this story turned out, I had guessed a little bit at the twist, while with “The Maidens” I was absolutely blown away by every development. However, one part of this story I completely enjoyed and thought was done extremely well was the unreliable narrator. Bit by bit, readers learn more about Theo, the narrator, and start to wonder whether they can trust him. It’s a fascinating addition to the story and really makes the narrative come alive.
The characters themselves are also deeply fascinating, as readers learn more about them and what brought them into this particular circumstance. Each character is given a chance to demonstrate their motives without the story falling off track. As readers see the situation around them change, readers shift who they’re rooting for, or even who they like. With this novel, readers’ perceptions are constantly moving and transferring; it’s highly satisfying in this way.

I like Naoise Dolan's style, probably because it's so reminiscent of Sally Rooney's style. Nothing really happens in this book, but that's what I like about it. It's focused so wholly on the characters, and that's what I was highly invested in.

Like “Normal People,” I adored this book. It’s been revolving around my mind ever since I finished it. It is a fantastic depiction of a dark and keenly observant young woman who is simply trying to figure out who she is, what she wants, and what her life truly means. Sally Rooney has an amazing ability to make reader’s care about her deeply developed characters--their lives, their problems, and their successes. What is so intriguing to me about Rooney’s work is her characters! The story is developed from them, and that is what makes Rooney’s work so brilliant.

I liked Reid's novel! It approached a conversation that needs to be had without being repetitive or boring. It was fresh, funny, and exciting.

I liked Burroughs' personal book. It was emotional and funny, but I sometimes felt as if Burroughs went on for too long. I like personal books that are quick, snappy, and too the point, and for the most part Burroughs accomplished that.
