This was a beautiful book - beautiful writing, beautiful characters. It broke my heart over and over again but in a wonderful way. It was so short but held so much, and managed to surprise me. The clarity at the end and the fog and confusion at the beginning make this book meaningful - I am glad I went in to it knowing rather little. Please read this book, but be ready to read about death and mourning and disease, including AIDS - although that is not really the heart of this book. The heart of this book is love.

This should be required reading. I didn’t know most of this - it’s important to know history - our history?

And also I need someone to watch Milk with me because it’s absurd I haven’t seen it but I’m scared of sobbing by myself

This book was haunting, and a really cool format, and way of experiencing history. I think it was good to have both the audiobook and kindle book and to go back and forth - I saw that many people seemed to have abandoned this but I'm very glad I didn't!!! It felt very real.

4.5 stars. Not at all how I expected it to end but I loved it! Super cute book.

To be fully honest, the writing was clunky at times and the characters didn't feel entirely real. But I love so much what this book is - a queer trans girl superhero story.
